Training with the Lumen Tribe

876 Words
The next morning, Zuri woke to the sound of soft chimes echoing across the hidden valley. Golden light from the waterfalls reflected through her window, filling the room with a warm, peaceful glow. For the first time in days… She felt safe. Somadina was already outside, practicing with his spear. His movements were sharp and controlled, slicing through the air with precision. Even the Lumen Tribe warriors watched him with admiration. “You’re awake,” he said with a smirk. “Good. You’re going to need your strength today.” Zuri stretched. “Why? What’s happening?” Somadina pointed to the center of the village. There, waiting patiently, was Kain— the glowing boy from the day before. Beside him stood three Lumen masters, each holding staffs made of shining crystal. “It’s time,” Kain said. “Your training begins now.” Zuri swallowed hard. “The training… to awaken the light in others?” Kain nodded. “Yes. And it will not be easy.” Somadina walked beside her. “I’ll be here, no matter what.” Zuri smiled gratefully. --- THE FIRST LESSON: CONTROL THROUGH CALM The first training ground was a circular arena surrounded by tall glowing stones. Orbs of light floated above like miniature suns. Master Asha, the eldest of the tribe, stepped forward. “Your light is powerful, Zuri,” she said. “But power without calm is chaos.” She raised her staff. A glowing dome formed around Zuri. Suddenly, shadows appeared inside the dome— visions of fear, panic, and pain. Zuri gasped. “The Shadow King…” Master Asha’s voice echoed from outside the dome: “Breathe. Calm your heart. Let your fear pass through you… not control you.” Zuri closed her eyes. At first the shadows screamed in her ears— But slowly… Her breathing steadied. Her heart slowed. Her bracelet brightened. And the shadows dissolved like mist. The dome faded. Master Asha nodded. “You are learning.” --- THE SECOND LESSON: LIGHT THROUGH CONNECTION Next, Kain stepped forward. “There is light in everyone,” he said. “But most people never see it. You must learn to draw it out.” Somadina stood across from Zuri, nervous and excited. “Start with him,” Kain said. Zuri blinked. “But Somadina isn’t part of the Lumen Tribe.” Kain smiled. “That does not matter. Light is universal.” Somadina crossed his arms. “Okay… what do I do?” “Just breathe,” Zuri said softly. She placed her hand close to his chest— not touching, but near enough to feel the warmth of his heartbeat. Her bracelet glowed. Slowly, she focused on the memory of Somadina protecting her— His courage. His loyalty. His strength. Her light reached toward him. For a moment, nothing happened. Then— A small flicker of gold glowed inside Somadina’s chest. His eyes widened. “Zuri… what is this?” She smiled. “Your light.” The glow grew brighter, spreading through his body like sunlight breaking through clouds. Somadina gasped. “I feel… stronger.” Kain stepped forward proudly. “You did it, Zuri. You awakened the light inside him.” Zuri felt warmth fill her heart. She wasn’t just a warrior— She was a guide. A beacon. A spark that could ignite others. --- THE THIRD LESSON: COMBINING LIGHT Master Rami lifted his crystal staff. “This is the most important lesson,” he announced. “The Shadow King’s darkness is powerful. You cannot defeat him alone. Your lights must become one.” He gestured for Zuri and Somadina to stand back-to-back. “Now,” Master Rami said, “connect your strengths.” Zuri closed her eyes. Somadina did the same. She reached out with her light. He responded with his courage. Their energies touched— Then merged. A brilliant blast of combined light shot upward into the sky, bright enough to split the clouds. The entire village gasped. Master Rami shielded his eyes. “Enough! Enough!” The blast faded, leaving sparks drifting in the air like golden snow. Kain whispered, amazed, “That was… perfect.” Zuri and Somadina looked at each other, breathing hard. Their hands trembled. Their hearts raced. But in their eyes was the same realization: Together… they were unstoppable. --- THE MESSAGE FROM THE ORACLE As the sun set, the Lumen Tribe gathered around the great crystal fire in the village center. The Oracle—an ancient woman with completely white eyes—stepped forward, leaning on her glowing staff. Her voice was a whisper and a storm all at once. “Sun-Blessed… your time here is ending.” Zuri stiffened. “Ending? But I just started training!” The Oracle nodded slowly. “You have learned what you needed. The Shadow King grows stronger every moment. He prepares for war.” A hush fell over the tribe. The Oracle raised her staff toward Zuri. “Tomorrow… you must leave this sanctuary and face your destiny.” Zuri felt her heart sink. Somadina placed a steady hand on her shoulder. “You’re ready,” he whispered. She wasn’t sure if he was right. But she knew one thing: She would not face the darkness alone.
