“I heard you, believe me I heard you,” James replied, putting the receiver back to his ear. “But how? I mean did she call? Is she still on the line?”
“No. She sounded very anxious and even scared...”
“Scared of what? Did she say?”
“No, James. She only said that she was going to be back in Vancouver in a couple of days and to let you know. That’s all.”
