Serena remained silent, wrapping her hands around Jacob's neck. His bodyguard took her luggage, while Jack smirked at Stella, saying, "I won't spare that girl."
Jacob's guard opened the car door for him, and he gently placed Serena on the seat. He closed the door, walked around to the driver's side, and started the engine.
As they sped away, Serena asked, "Sir, umm, where are you taking me?"
Jacob replied, "Anywhere comfortable for you."
Serena pressed for more information, "Where?" but Jacob remained silent, focusing on the road.
They soon arrived at the Wayland mansion. Jacob stopped the car, instructing Serena not to get out. He then came around to help her out, lifting her into his arms once more.
Serena stole a glance at Jacob's handsome face, her heart racing rapidly.
Ma Ruth's voice interrupted the moment, "Jacob? Serena? You both meet?"
Jacob set Serena down on the couch, explaining, "Ma Ruth, she's a foolish girl. She tried to kill herself last night. That's why I didn't come home last night. I was at the hospital with her."
Ma Ruth's eyes welled up with tears, "Serena, oh my god, I told you if you're going through a lot, you should always share it with me. I don't know what would have happened if you weren't there, Jacob."
Jacob's anger resurfaced, "And her brother, he needs to be arrested. He's treating her so badly. I'll file a case against him."
Ma Ruth calmed him down, "Jacob, calm down. I'm glad Serena is fine."
Jacob declared, "She's staying here now. Her brother threw her out."
Ma Ruth smiled warmly. "I've told Serena several times she should stay here with me, but she loves her family so much."
Jacob chimed in, "I saved her life, so she must do anything I say. She's too stubborn."
Serena gazed at Jacob as he conversed with Ma Ruth, her heart skipping a beat at his handsome appearance.
Jacob asked, "Umm, where's Dad?"
Ma Ruth replied, "He went out for work."
Jacob nodded. "Okay!" As he headed upstairs, Serena apologized to Ma Ruth.
Ma Ruth's expression turned solemn. "Serena, I don't know what to do with you. My fear of losing you is more than the fear of me dying."
Serena rushed to comfort her. "Ma Ruth, don't ever say that again! You will not die. I reject that for you." She hugged Ma Ruth tightly.
Ma Ruth smiled, relieved. "You are forgiven. I'm glad you're here now."
As they entered the kitchen, Serena's eyes lit up. "I'm so hungry."
Ma Ruth offered, "I made this. Have a taste."
Serena savored the dish, exclaiming, "Yummy, this is so delicious!"
Jacob, standing at the kitchen entrance, admired Serena's beauty. Ma Ruth noticed him and invited, "Don't stand there, come and have a taste too."
As Jacob approached, he asked Serena, "Feed me?"
Serena froze, nervously replying, "Huh?"
Ma Ruth encouraged, "Don't be shy, he insists."
Serena hesitantly fed Jacob, their eyes locking in a moment of intense connection.
Ma Ruth smiled, observing the chemistry between them. "I'm still here, you two."
As the moment passed, Jacob complimented Ma Ruth, "The food is delicious. Thanks."
Ma Ruth beamed. "Thank you."
Serena, still flustered, excused herself. "Umm, Ma Ruth, I want to freshen up now. I'm so tired."
Jacob reminded her, "Your luggage is upstairs."
Serena inquired, "Upstairs?"
Jacob confirmed, "Yes, the guest room."
Serena hesitated, "But I want to be with Ma Ruth."
Jacob smirked, "But I want you to be upstairs."
Serena acquiesced, remembering Jacob's assertion that he "owned" her now.
As they ascended the stairs, Jacob escorted Serena to her room. She marveled at the luxurious decor, having never entered one of the Wayland's rooms before.
Jacob smiled, pleased with her reaction. "This is yours now."
Serena thanked him sincerely. "Thank you very much. You've been so nice to me."
Jacob bid her rest. "You're welcome. I'll leave you to take a rest now."
As he exited the room, Serena sank into the plush bed, sighing contentedly. "I love it here."
