It's been two days since the night at the club and I swore never to go to the club again especially with Aria and get friends. Those girls were wild.
I was also scared when I thought of the man that held me that night, it couldn't be Danté. I did not really remember much because I was tipsy and Aria said she couldn't remember a thing. I met with the investors yesterday and I was invited for a charity ball this evening to celebrate.
I was getting ready for my night, this charity ball is hosted to raise money for children with cancer. I looked at myself in the full length mirror. I wore a long gown with a low neckline and high slits. I turned around and the cloth showed my perky ass. I was not comfortable wearing this but Aria insisted I wore it
"I knew you would look good in this cloth. It fits you like a glove and it accentuates your curves. All the men in the event won't be able to take theirs eyes off you both single and taken" she giggled and I smiled
The cloth wasn't bad at all and I get this was an opportunity for me to mingle and make friends after a long time. A knock on the door alerted me of the time
"s**t!!!" I cursed as I checked the time. My ride is here
"I'll be going now" I hugged Aria and stepped out of the building. The cold air hit me with force and I wished I brought a jacket with me.
"Good evening ma'am" the driver greeted "Mr Nikolai asked me to pick you up"
"Let's go" he held the door to the passenger seat while I entered and he closed it. He entered the driver's seat and started the engine and zoomed off.
In no time we were at the venue of the event, I watched as different exotic cars entered the venue. The driver stopped at the entrance and came down to open the door and he offered me his hand to come out which I gladly took
"Thank you" I said. There is a red carpet leading into the entrance way of a large hall, filled with people dancing and talking. I scan the crowd and don't see anybody that I recognize.
Every gentle man was in a suit and the ladies were in their dinner gowns. You could tell by their dressings that everyone here was wealthy. You could see them in groups chatting with each other, I went in further and took a drink from a waiter walking around
"Alessia" a voice called from behind me and I turned around to see Nikolai. He kissed my both cheeks.
"Honestly, I never thought you would come"
"I changed my mind at the last minute and I felt there was no harm coming"
"I appreciate your presence and you look so beautiful"
"Thank you"
"I want to introduce you to my wife, I'm sure you would like her" he linked my arms in his and took me to his wife
"Darling" a blonde woman turned smiling. His wife was beautiful and looked so much younger than him. She gave him a light kiss on his lips
"Meet my wife Ekaterina Lewinski and darling meet Alessia, I just invested in her company"
"It's nice to meet you Ekaterina" she pulled me in for a hug
"Likewise" she said in her russian accent. "We are going to be good friends" she giggled
"Let me leave you ladies to enjoy yourselves. I'll go and talk to a few people" he left me standing with his wife. I didn't feel comfortable being left with his wife because I don't want anyone prying to my private life
"Come dear, let us sit" she took me to a seat and she flipped her hand and a waiter came with drinks. We took two glasses and the waiter left.
"So tell me do you live here?" I took a sip of my wine
"No, I just came here for business and I'll be leaving soon"
"What about your husband?" I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, she must have noticed it
"You are not married? Or you don't want to talk about it, I won't force you to tell me but if you need someone to talk to am here"
"No, I'm not married"
"I've not been married for the past five years" but I didn't say it out
"I don't believe that. You are a lovely woman and I'm sure you have suitors lined up or you're not ready to settle down yet"
"It's the latter. I'm still building up my career and getting married now might just interrupt my progress"
"No, your career has nothing to do with your marriage. There are successful women with a career, your marriage can not hinder your career only if you let it. Don't you want to settle down with someone you love?"
If only she knew I had been down that path already
"I'm currently not seeing someone. I've been too focused on this merge with your husband that I had to put everything on hold"
"Now you are in this city and you'll be working with my husband for a while before you leave I'll introduce you to a few people"
"No, no, there is no need for that. I'll be busy"
"C'mon, you won't be working throughout the day or will you?" She asked with raised brows
"No"
"Perfect" I smiled at her. I just met her today and she was treating me like she had known me all her life"
"Thank you. You are a really nice person and I'm glad I met you, I hope I'll get to know more about you for the duration of my stay here"
"Same here we can fix a date and have a girls night out. I'll invite some of my other friends"
"No problem. I'll make sure I give you a call"
"I have someone to introduce you to. He is very handsome and he's single too, I think you would make a perfect match for him. Follow me" she linked my arms with hers as we passed through people until we finally reached the man she wanted to introduce me too. His back was facing us and it reminded me of someone but I quickly brushed off the thought. She tapped him on his shoulder and he turned to face us and I prayed the ground could open up and swallow me.
"Danté, meet........"
"Alessia" he called with his deep voice
"You two know each other" she looked between us, I had not said anything yet. I was trying to process everything
"Of course she's my ........"
"We've met before" I cut him off before he revealed I was his wife.
"Really? So there is no need for introduction. He is my husband's friend and is also the largest share holder in the company" Ekaterina kept rambling while Danté's gaze was still fixed on me. His eyes were cold and I couldn't read the expression on his face. I didn't want our first meeting to be like this. Why didn't I think about the possibility of him being here when he is the richest person in the city.
"I'll leave you two to get to know each other" she whispered in my ear giggling and she left me standing with him.
