Chapter 1 - Rebirth

V's POV

Napakabigat ng bawat patak ng ulan sa aking pisngi. Naisin ko mang itaas ang tingin ko ay sadyang kay bigat ng aking paggalaw. Nanatili akong nakahiga sa sahig ng rooftop, duguan at hirap sa paghinga.

I had a hole on my shoulder and one in my stomach. The rate that I'm bleeding out assured me that I will not be walking away from this. As the cool breeze seeped into my skin, through my bones, I could only think of one person and it worries me not knowing if he was safe at the moment.

"C-Craig... I must save..." No matter how much I encouraged my weakened body to stand up and finish this, my body seemed to be deteriorating even further. I lost a lot of blood to even move a single finger much more carry a gun and walk.

He's supposed to be here! I searched all over the building and I'm sure there's no way he's not here!

"Where... are you..." My warm breathe fogs the air as I weakly spoke.

Mag-a-update na yung paborito nating story sa Dreame. Gusto kong dalawa tayong magbasa non ng magkasama...

I wanted to smile but even that was a bit impossible right now.

If only I was able to save him. At least I could die peacefully.

If only I stayed away from him. None of these would've happened.

If only I was not so selfish as too think I could live a normal life with him.

If only the stories we both loved to read on Dreame could have even a slight chance of happening to us.

If only we met each other and I was normal.

With every last bit of my strength I didn't know I had, I managed to lift myself up. Kneeling on one knee, I grabbed one of my guns lying on the floor. Dealing through the pain and coldness bashing against my skin, I miraculously stood up on my feet.

Crimson red painted my body while blood starts to pool around my feet. The rain couldn't wash the red, instead, it just dispersed it throughout the floor.

Anytime now, those f**king bastards were going be flooding out through the door. Even if I die here, I'll bring more of them with me!

I'd rather die on my feet than die kneeling!

Marahan kong itinaas ang baril upang itutok sa nag-iisang pintuan patungo sa rooftop. Whoever was the unlucky bastard that was about to enter first would bite the first of the last bullets I'd be able to fire for the rest of my life!

Red and black starter to paint my sight. The door knob slowly turned and the door finally opened.

I'm halfway on pulling the trigger when a familiar man stepped out. A worried and bewildered look plastered on Craig's face met my confused but releaved one.

"Vi-V? V!?" He whispered then he shouted my name as he ran towards me!

I immediately dropped my gun and dragged my limping body to meet him.

How come he's here? Paano siya nakalagpas sa mga kalabang papaakyat dito?

Doon pa lang ay dapat nagtaka na ako. Every muscle in my body was screaming for me to becareful! But no, this was Craig and he's here with me now!

Never in my whole existence have I felt relief and happiness as much as I'm feeling right now! Worry blossomed in my chest as I realized how dangerous our situation was! They could recapture him again because he tried to save me!

But to see his face again after weeks of searching was well worth it.

One hand blocking the hole on my stomach, I raised the other one to reach out onto his face.

Run away, Craig! I will hold them off before I die if that's the last thing I could do!

I wanted to shout it all out to him but my meager strength right now didn't permit it. Rather, a whisper pitifully crept out of my quivering lips as we came near each other.

"C-Craig... You must... e-escape-!"

As soon as our bodies met, a sharp pain on my abdomen partnered by a hard steel entered my body. My breath was cut short and legs finally gave in.

My head fell over his shoulder as he twisted the knife he's stabbed me with. Blood came gushing out of my mouth along with my groan of pain. He quickly pushed me away with disgust, pulling the blade out as I stumbled to the red floor.

Wala pang isang segundo ang pagbagsak ko sa sahig ngunit tila oras ang itinagal nito sa aking isip habang nakatingin ako sa mukha ng mahal ko.

Ang kanina'y nag-aalala niyang ekspresyon ay napalitan ng nakakabaliw na ngisi.

Mas lalong nanlamig ang buo kong katawan sa pagbagsak ko sa sahig. Mas lalong umagos palabas ng aking katawan ang pulang likido.

Why, Craig? W-Why? It's m-me, V...

Subukan ko mang magsalita ay sadyang ubos na ang lakas ko. Tanging pagbukas-sara na lamang ng mga talukap ng aking mga mata ang kaya kong gawin.

Tila nababasa naman ni Craig ang nais kong sabihin kaya nag-umpisa na siyang magsalita.

"Damn it! I can't believe you were able to kill everyone in this building as well! You really are a monster, Rouge 5!" Natatawa at aliw niyang sabi habang ipinupunas ang punyal sa laylayan ng kanyang jacket.

He walked closer to me and stepped on the spot he stabbed me in. I didnt feel it, I couldn't feel anything anymore.

He bent over to look closer at me, still with a wide grin plastered on his face.

"I know! I know! You must be wondering why, I, your "lover" knew about you and... this." His mocking voice laced on his tone as he gestured my whole bloodied body.

"The simple answer to that is because," He stood straight looking proudly at himself as he grandly presented himself to his imaginary audience. "I am the latest Rouge Assassin!"

The rain wasn't able to dampen his gleeful smile after his proclamation.

"I was specifically made to track and bring you down, Rouge 5. My only assigned target... is you." He explained as he pointed the tip of his knife in front of my eye. "You see, after you betrayed the organization, and after killing every agent they threw at you, they gave up the notion of confronting you upfront. After all, you're the best amongst the Rouge projects when it comes to combat and assasination. Then that's when they realized, even the seemingly perfect agent would have a flaw and yours was the same reason you left us; you had sympathy for the weak and the innocent."

He grabbed the back of my head and face me towards him.

"You see, even if I do this..." He started pushing the blade into my left eye just enough to hurt but not to kill me quickly. "Say, did you notice anything strange?"

Right there and then, it clicked. Like a puzzle piece falling into place to show me the whole picture.

I didn't feel even a thread of bloodlust coming from him. After all his crazy talks and what he's doing to me right now, I was not able to sense any ill intentions from him.

W-what the fuck...

His smile broadened upon knowing I realized what he was.

A zero...

An agent we all thought was impossible to make. An agent who had no emotion nor sympathy. A hollow agent.

He may show a frowning, smiling face or even cry with endless tears flowing down his face but none of it could be real.

Inside this person... is nothing. A robot-like human programmed to move but not feel.

So everything we had was fake. All those memories we shared, only I treasured them. The only man I loved and gave my everything to... was a no one.

Tears starts to fall from my remaining eye. The zero frowned as if it is genuinely intrigued but I now know it's just for a show.

The last face I'd be able to see was this man's with its fake impression. What a fitting end for an evil woman such as I.

In the end, I had no one with me.

My sight slowly faded bit by bit. All there was was darkness and the last among my senses to fade was my hearing.

Tip. Tip. Tip... Tip.

Bawat pagpatak ng ulan sa paligid ko ay nag-uumpisa nang humina hanggang tuluyan na nga akong walang narinig pa. Nakakalunod na katahimikan at nakakabulag na kadiliman ang yumakap sa pagkatao ko.

I hugged myself into a fetal position... or atleast that's what I would look like if I still have a body.

Pakiramdam ko ay parang wala na akong katawan at nakalutang na lamang ako sa kawalan.

Walang maamoy walang marinig, walang maramdaman o makita. Tanging kalungkutan lang ang mayroon ako... at pagsisisi.

How long was I been here again? One hour? One day? Months or years?

I wasn't sure anymore. All I knew was that there was this dark moving cloud swirling around "me" and it sometimes went through me but nothing notable would happen. It's weird but not bothersome in any way.

Many times it went inside me and all the time it would pass through my construct. I swear I could almost tell that it was scratching it's imaginary head everytime he fails to... to... Well, I really had no idea what it was trying to do.

Immeasurable time passed by and numerous times the cloud tried to do what it wanted but failed numerous times as well.

Until one time... it just succeeded.

The cloud managed to "touch" me! Once it did, it attached to me like an octopus grabbing it's victim! All of a sudden, my "body" developed the long forgotten sensation of touch, smell, hearing, seeing and... pain?

*SPLAT!*

A falling sensation along with blinding sight bombarded my senses! My back met something hard and rough as my body slide through the said surface!

Confused and in pain, my mouth involuntarily forced a gasp of agony!

Mother f*****g b***h!

That's what I was trying to calmly say but a shrill cry of a baby came out along with a gurgle sound of fluids being expelled from my mouth instead!

What was that in my mouth?! It tasted like wet s**t!

I was trying to focus my sight to whatever's in front of me but it's all blurry as f**k!

Is my other eye still blind? What's going on- Aarrrgh! What in the devil's crotch was that?!

Instead of touching my left eye, my fingers clumsily scratched across my eyelid! Good thing I closed it on time but I knew it left a mark!

I can't control my hands as good as I was able to!

What's wrong with me? WHY IS EVERY PART OF MY BODY HURTING?!

I am so f**king pissed right now! I want to punch someone so badly! Fuuuuuu**!

As I tried to focus on my other sense cos my sight's clearly f****d, I heard some weird noise near me.

Someone was panting heavily on top of me and my whole body was now wrapped in some silk. I was not really sure what.

Although obviously very tired and also in pain, she appeared to be very happy while staring down at me.

May kalabuan man ay tanaw ko ang mukha ng isang higanteng babae at nakangiti itong nakatingin sa akin! Bakas sa kanyang mukha ang sobrang panghihina pero may bahid din ito ng galak.

Akmang ilalapit nito ang mukha niya sa akin at agad kong sinubukan na iharang ang aking mga kamay ngunit ikinagulat ko ang nasaksihan!

Napakaliliit ng aking mga kamay at matataba ang aking mga daliri!

P-parang kamay ng sanggol!

Tila naninilaw rin ang aking mga balat at may ilan-ilan ring mga galos ang mga ito.

"Hmien trava shunail, baba!" Malambing at magiliw na tinig ng babae habang inaayos nito sa telang balabal na nakabalot sa akin.

"Fasta reuen ehst, ehst rhana halasta." A spell-like enchantation flown out of her mouth like smooth flowing honey.

Sa pagkakataong ito ay tila may kakaibang huni ang kanyan boses. Para bang may pangalawa o di kaya'y pangatlong boses na sumusunod sa kanyang bawat pagbigkas. Ramdam ko rin ang bahagyang pag-vibrate ng hangin sa paligid namin kasunod ng pagliwanag ng paligid.

Hindi ko maunawaan ang lengwahe niya at isa pa sa ipinagtaka ko ay nang biglang magliwanag ang kanyang mga mata matapos niyang sabihin ang huling mga salita.

Golden lights enveloped her pupils or where I suppose her eyes should be. I can't be sure the way my sight currently was. The golden lights spread outwards encasing her whole head, then it crawls through her shoulders until it reaches my newborn body. The pain that was torturing me was slowly subsiding with every second she channels the light from her golden orbs. My initial jaundiced skin also started to turn into a fresh and healthy white-pinkish one.

Hindi ko kailangang makita ng malinaw ang nangyayari upang mapagtantong hindi ito pangkaraniwan sa mundong pinanggalingan ko, assuming that I underwent rebirth into a different body.

The light felt warm all over my body and there's this tingling sensation working its way into my eyes as well. My blurry vision became clearer and there I saw the woman's features for the first time.

Blue orbs surrounded by golden lights are intently watching me as she held with me one hand at the back of my neck and the other on my buttocks. Blonde wavy hair lazily rested on both sides of her shoulders with a tinge stains of soot and dirt. Her lips were as pink as roses which were hiding a full set of Colgate white teeth! Her nose couldn't be more perfect as it was!

Is this woman Aphrodite or what?!

As I looked at her even more, there was this weird feeling in my head. She looked familiar but I deadass know I've never met her before. Part of my work- I mean, my former work was being good with remembering faces. The fact that I could remember a book, word-for-word just by reading it once made me the best at what I did.

But this woman looked so familiar it's almost like I've met her a thousand times! I'm in a different world so I'm 100% sure she's new to me.

Like an imaginary feather tickling my brain but I can't fathom what it was. Same with the feeling of having a clue or a word that was f*****g with the tip of your tongue but you couldn't decipher no matter how much you ponder on it. A puzzle on the brink of being solved but a piece fell on the floor and flew to whatever f*****g dimension it warped into!

Like a sneeze that is abruptly stopped, it's fu**ing pissing me off!

"Eun baba." She weekly whispered as she pulled my cheek on her lips, kissing me soundlessly.

May kung ano sa aking dibdib ang tila hindi sanay sa ipinapakitang... pagtrato ng babae sa akin.

Kindness was as rare as a miracle in my previous world... or atleast with me. The only refuge I had was when I was with Cra-

Agad akong natigilan sa pag-iisip. My baby fists clenched as hard as they could without me noticing and the woman somehow knew I was not feeling okay.

"Ipra sutten eifo, baba? Ittel mama!" She cooed, now bombarding both my cheeks with kisses!

Goddammit woman! Stop with the kisses! Are you trying to kill me?! What are you even saying?! Back off this instant!

I could speak in different languages and I could learn one if shown some context but right now, I'm as clueless as a baby... which I literally am right now.

My cry of anger seems to have a different effect evident by how much more her kissing intensified!

Mga ilang segundo rin ang lumipas nang matapos rin ang parusang inabot ko sa kanya. May mga kung ano pa siyang sinabi sa akin na hindi ko parin maintindihan. Napapakunot noo na lamang ako dahil pabago-bago ang ekspresyon ng babae. Ngingiti, tatawa, lulungkot, iiyak, magagalit, tapos tatawa na naman.

Mukhang totoo ang kasabihang lahat ng magaganda may kabaliwan ding dala.

This particular woman... was bag full of cats on catnips!

Nagpalinga-linga siya sa paligid. Madilim sa eskinita at tanaw ko sa langit ang mga ayos ng mga bituin na ngayon ko lang nakita.

That was a definite proof that I was in a different world.

"Yur mena fer neu ish Valiria." Eyes closed, she whispered.

As soon as she finished saying the last word, a surge of... something ran through my whole body! It's an otherworldly feeling that I've never felt before!

It's akin to a feeling of stretching your whole body after being tucked inside a small box for almost a month or having a glass of cold water after marching endlessly through the hot dessert of Sahara, no, it's even better than that!

There was only a single word that comes to my mind that could describe the feeling.

It's power!

Sandali siyang tumingin sa akin at ngumiti ng marahan saka ako ibinalot sa loob ng kanyang roba. Tanging mga mata lamang niya ang nakikita nang matapos niyang ibalot ang sarili at itago ako sa loob ng suot nito.

"Yu han duv ish, Amelia." She said to herself as she clenched one of her fists, pumping it in the air.

The moment she said that name, it dawned on me.

The feather tickling my brain fu**ed off, the clue dancing on my tongue revealed itself and the piece of the puzzle I was trying to find floated itself into view!

Her name was Amelia... A light magic user who was going to give birth to the destined hero...

Ohh no. Oh no. Oh no no no!

"Ooouuhh Auggooo aauuaaah!" My baby throat croaked in baby speak which roughly translates to:

Fuck! I'm stuck in a Dreame story?!
