‘’How could they do this to you…’’ Mrs. Anderson asked, looking at her unconscious husband on the bed. It had been exactly 3 hours since they got to the hospital. She was called all the way from her company to the hospital, only to hear that her husband had just been admitted. She couldn’t believe what they said. Until she got to the hospital and met him with pipes and syringes all over him. ‘’Mrs. Anderson, you need to calm down…this is a hospital…’’ The nurse beside her spoke quietly, hoping she would reduce her voice but she didn’t make an attempt to. Instead, her voice got louder as she stared at her.Mrs. Anderson screamed at the top of her voice. ‘’Don’t you dare tell me to calm down!!! Those whores shot my husband! And you want me to calm down!!???’’ Within a couple of seconds, many other doctors walked in, to find out what all the noise was about in the ward. ‘’Mrs. Anderson please, we will make sure your husband is alright…’’ ‘’Mom calm down. He’ll be fine.’’ Her son, Scott, who was by the corner using his phone, sighed then spoke up to her. Taking a swift turn, she glared at him. ‘’This is your father, Scott! Your father! Don’t you know what is happening right now!?’’ ‘’Don’t tell me that right now mom. Instead of yelling, why don’t you ask him why he was at the strip club in the first place!? He has a wife! You are his wife!’’ Mrs. Anderson knew he was right. She was his wife. Why would he be going to a strip show? ‘’That’s not the problem right now…your father needs to be fine again!’’ ‘’Make him fine then. He is your husband after all. He said he never wanted anything to do with me ever again. So why should I be involved in all of this? It’s not like he would even be appreciative if he found out I was part of this.’’ Everyone watched as Scott and Mrs. Anderson argued endlessly. ‘’ But…’’ ‘’How many times do I have to tell you!? I don’t care!’’ Saying that, Scott walked out on all of them, making his way out of the hospital. Acid burning her throat, Mrs. Anderson raised her head from the floor to look at the doctors and nurses who were all quiet. They all knew the kind of person she was, and dared not to speak to her while she was in that state. Seconds later, a number of cops walked in, with the intention of talking to her. They all gave way for them. ‘’Mrs. Anderson…’’‘’Don’t!...Don’t speak to me!’’ She began and the room became as quiet as a graveyard. ‘’Don’t you ever, stand in front of me, until you bring back those whores, who shot my husband! Do you understand that!?’’ ‘’Yes ma’am.’’ Grabbing her bag, she stormed out of the room, leaving everyone stunned. She expected to meet her son, Scott at the parking lot, but he was gone to her surprise. She hated the fact that she wasn’t on good terms with him…all thanks to her husband. It was killing her on the inside. He was their only son. But what could she do? There was nothing on the earth that she would do to make him love her again. She was always on her husband’s side when it came to issues concerning Scott. Instead of being a mother to him, she treated him like he was not part of the family. Now, he was grown enough to make his own decisions, and she knew that he could do whatever he wanted without having to come back to them ever again. ✧✧✧✧✧✧ ‘’Hey hey…take it slow. What’s the rush?’’ Scott best friend, Alex, said, walking swiftly behind him. Rather than go back to the company to finish up what he was doing, he stopped over at Alex’s, to take his mind off a few things. He needed it. Alex’s place was his go-to chill zone. He would rather stay there than go to lounges or parties and he liked it that way. Sometimes it was better to be alone. ‘’You need to calm down Scott. What happened?’’ Alex shut the door behind them while speaking. ‘’Where were you?’’ At last, Scott sat on one of the couch and Alex heaved a sigh of relief. He loosened one button on his shirt. ‘’The hospital.’’ ‘’I am so sorry, man. I heard about your dad.’’ In surprise, Scott raised his eyebrows. ‘’How did you find out about that?’’ ‘’It’s all over the news.’’ ‘’Turn on the TV.’’ Grabbing the remote, Alex turned on the TV and went straight to one of the news channels. Many reporters could be seen, flooding the crime scene. It was as if a major shootout had gone down. Cautions tapes, paper tapes, duck tapes, different kind of tapes were all around. The lights were off, and the cops moved around, looking to see if they could find other valuable things. The house had already been covered up. ‘’Not even up to a day…’’ Scott mumbled, not taking his eyes away from the TV. ‘’Are you kidding? Your family is literally the richest family in the whole of Atlanta. I honestly won’t be surprised if this remains the news headline for the whole month.’’ Alex said and Scott breathed out. Reducing the volume of the TV a bit, Alex turned to face Scott who now had his eyes shut tight. ‘’What now?’’ He asked. ‘’What are you talking about? Scott asked, opening his eyes to look at the ceiling.Alex titled his head. ‘’Your dad. The girls?’’ ‘’I have no business with neither of them.’’ ‘’Scott…he’s your dad.’’ ‘’Please Alex. Don’t start with this. I need a break. I don’t know why people want me to feel bad about him when he has literally done nothing for me.’’ Scott deep voice echoed. ‘’I hope those girls get away with it.’’ ‘’What the hell? How could you say that? They shot him!’’ ‘’If you’re so concerned then do something about it! Let me be!’’ They both yelled at each other. ‘’Look, Alex…I don’t want to have this conversation right now. I just want to relax. Don’t make me regret coming over. Please. I’m sorry for yelling at you. I just…don’t want to deal with this. I hope you understand.’’ Alex sighed, looking at him. ‘’It’s fine. I won’t bring it up again unless you want to talk about it.’’ With that being said, Scott nodded with a slight smile, and made his way up the stairs, leaving Alex with his thoughts in the living room.
