Chapter 06

Heather, sitting close to the window of her bedroom, picked up her phone from the lamp side. Going to her location setting, she quickly looked through to see if she could find the rest of the girls. Ever since they all heard they were being chased down, it felt like the world was going to end. Not only did Eilis shoot Mr. Anderson, one of the city’s biggest billionaires, the rest of the girls drugged the men they went home on that night with. Took all their belongings, money, everything. Nothing was left behind. Even Eilis was dead. Heather knew she couldn’t remain in Atlanta any longer. She had to leave as well. She had no idea where the other girls were, as they she stopped talking to them the instant the left the strip club. She had no idea what was going on with them and if they were even alive. When she turned on the TV, the news was all about them. They were the ones at fault. No one thought of the billionaires. Why? Because they were billionaires. They could do anything by the flick of a finger. ‘’Heather?’’ Someone called, startling her. She rapidly turned and met Isla, one of her strippers who had followed her home earlier. ‘’Isla.’’ Heather muttered, looking at her. Neither of them was smiling. ‘’Heather what do we do? We can’t hide here forever.’’ Isla was right. Although where they were was kind of out of sight, they weren’t still sure of their safety. ‘’Isla we have no money. We have nowhere to go!’’ ‘’What do you mean we have nowhere to go? We made enough money last night! Why can’t we use that to get away from here? The girls are all leaving!’’ Isla exclaimed, making gestures with her hands. ‘’Isla…’’ ‘’Heather I can’t do this anymore! I…have to go.’’ Isla finally said. Heather stared in disappointment, totally aware of the reason why she made that statement. No one wanted to be put in jail. ‘’Staying here will just put us in more danger.’’ ‘’You’re right. You should go.’’ ‘’What about you?’’ ‘’Don’t worry about me, Isla. I have my ways.’’ Heather forced a smile. She knew she was lying. She had nowhere to go. Heather Smith had a criminal record. She had been banned from leaving the city. She was known all over the city as a notorious criminal. She committed unspeakable crimes and it had left her helpless. There was nothing she could do to leave.Isla became worried. ‘’Are you sure?’’ ‘’I’m sure.’’ ‘’I have all my things packed…’’ Isla muttered. ‘’Oh…you had already been preparing before you came over to meet me huh…’’ Heather realized. Isla could have left a long time ago but she still decided to say goodbye to Heather. Walking over to Heather, Isla tried not to cry. Heather was her everything. She was the one who introduced her to the business and made her who she was. Even when her parents didn’t accept her back in, Heather was the one who took her. ‘’Thank you for everything, Heather. I really appreciate all you have ever done for me.’’ ‘’It’s fine, Isla.’’ Heather’s heart burned. Bringing her closer, she held her hands and blew her a light kiss. After nodding slightly, Isla walked out of Heather’s bedroom once she turned to look at her. That would probably be the last time she would ever get to see Heather again. Isla quickly rushed back into her room, took her belongings and walked quickly down the stairs. She knew she would need her stuff out there, so she packed lights clothes. The house was extremely quiet. Suddenly, the thoughts of when the house used to be filled the rest of the girls came flooding her mind. After sighing, she shook her head and walked out. She took her car key with her. It would help her a great deal. Running towards the car that was parked on the opposite side of the street, Isla began to hear sirens. Thinking she was hallucinating, she went to the other side of the car and lo and behold, cop cars were coming her away. ‘’Hell.’’ Muttering under her breath, Isla ran back at the speed of light, to her car. Unlocking it, she got in. The cops were here for her and Heather. How did they find out where they were? Her heart racing, she fumbled with the keys in her hand. ‘’Get in get in!!!’’ Isla screamed at the car key. After a while, it finally went in and she turned on the car. They cops had already gotten to where she was. ‘’We have the place surrounded. Come out of the house!’’ A cop holding a loud speaker said while coming out of the car. Behind him were many more. People began to gather round. No one knew what was happening or who the cops were referring to. They bust down the door of the house and rushed in the house with their guns and lights. Heather.Within seconds she was pulled out of the house, cops already circling her. ‘’What about the other one?’’ A cop asked, expecting to find two of them. Heather and Isla. Heather who didn’t bother fighting them, looked towards the spot where Isla’s car and met her gaze. She smiled gently at Isla and then took her face away. Isla, who had been able to keep the car on after a couple of seconds, pressed the gas pedal with her foot. She kept her eyes on the rear mirror as the cops walked out of the house she just left not more than 20 minutes ago. ‘’They got Heather…’’ Isla’s voice came barely audible as tears rolled down her cheeks. She couldn’t believe it. But she had to leave.Getting back on the main road, Isla drove off, making sure not to attract other cops with the speed of her car. ‘’She didn’t even have a chance to escape.’’ Isla’s tears continued to wet the dress she put on. Heather was gone. She couldn’t escape. She had no chance. First it was Eilis, now Heather. She would never get to see them again. Isla was now far away from the house. She couldn’t turn back now. It was either she got caught or she escaped. And getting caught was definitely not an option for her. She was now on the highway, driving as fast as she could to the nearest airport. It was now or never.
