The preserved salted meat we had stolen earlier, along with the supplies collected by Sean and the others, was hidden in an underground pit they had dug, similar to the cellars used by northerners. A cellar was a good way to store food. Not only did it slow down the decay of food, but it also prevented the spread of odors, avoiding attracting wild animals. I must say, Sean and his crew had quite a few tricks up their sleeves. Of course, now these things all belonged to me.
