Sixteen Ty was already in the barn the next morning when I woke up. I’d been plagued by dreams of horses in the Packing House and nightmares of Ty drowning in the Jackie O Reservoir in Central Park, so for the first time in weeks I’d slept through sunrise. Finding the house empty, I grabbed a freshly-baked muffin from the kitchen and then hurried out to the barn. “You ready for your final test, cowgirl?” Ty asked. Eddie swung the camera at me. Babe lunged for me, but I sidestepped out of her way. “Absolutely.” I forced a grin on my face. Maybe that was why I’d overslept. The final test, I knew, was an overnight trail ride. We would pack up the horses with food and camping gear, trek out to an isolated location—which, as far as I could tell, meant pretty much the entire ranch was up
