FOUR The streets of Nzara were lined with posters announcing the blind guitar player’s forthcoming concert. These had been subjected to a variety of distasteful alterations. The local children, who viewed everything as a possible source of entertainment – even their parents’ underwear – had scribbled graffiti onto them, while the grown-ups preferred to tear them from the walls and replace them with pictures of naked women, dirty jokes and other lewd images.
