The people were in a state of mindless frenzy. This was not – in most cases – down to stupidity. The cause was fear. It was this very terror that presented a golden opportunity for the artists of the region to attract a large audience desperately in need of distraction, and a movement began to form that would soon earn the title ‘Fight Fear with Art.’
