Possessive.
Unwanted.
“Let go,” she said sharply, trying to pull away.
But he didn’t.
Instead, he tilted his head slightly, studying her like she was something he had just discovered.
“Not yet,” he replied calmly, his voice smooth but laced with something darker.
Lena’s heartbeat quickened.
This wasn’t just a random encounter.
This man was deliberate.
Calculated.
And dangerous.
“I said—remove your hand.”
The voice that cut through the tension was cold enough to freeze the entire room.
Adrian.
Relief hit Lena instantly—but it was quickly replaced by something else.
Fear.
Not of Adrian.
But of what he might do.
The man slowly released her wrist, almost lazily, as if he wasn’t impressed.
Then he turned.
And smiled.
“There you are,” he said, his tone almost amused. “I was wondering how long it would take you to step in.”
Adrian moved forward without hesitation, placing himself slightly in front of Lena.
Shielding her.
The movement was subtle—but intentional.
“Marcus,” Adrian said, his voice low and controlled. “You’ve said enough for one night.”
So that was his name.
Marcus.
The name alone felt heavy.
Like it carried history.
Marcus chuckled softly, slipping his hands into his pockets.
“Have I?” he asked. “I’ve barely started.”
His gaze flickered past Adrian—landing back on Lena.
Sharp.
Curious.
Hungry.
Lena resisted the urge to step back.
She wouldn’t show fear.
Not here.
Not in front of him.
“Stay away from her,” Adrian said quietly.
Marcus’s eyebrow lifted slightly.
“Why?” he asked. “Is she… important?”
The question hung in the air.
Dangerous.
Provocative.
Adrian didn’t answer.
But the silence was louder than words.
And Marcus noticed.
Of course he did.

“Oh,” he murmured. “Now this is interesting.”
