THE DEVIL OF MY HEART

1576 Words
My new classroom, let me say it, not a stylish one, but acceptable. All of the other students already settled down on their seat, chatting loudly with their cliques. Yeah, it is normal for a school to have their tolerably its groups. The jocks, the nerds, the queen bee, the goth, everything looks pretty typical for me. The room once filled laugh and chat, turned silence as we enter the room. All eyes on me, at the moment I walked behind Miss Evangeline. "Okay settle down, class. Today, we have a new student. I know it was too late for a new transfer student to join you guys in your last year, but be nice with him okay." Miss Evangeline gestured me to introduce myself in front of the class. She really thought that it was easy to introduce yourself in front of the people that you were not familiar with. I mustered my courage, though I always did this back then, it still felt scary. "H-hi, my name is Alan House. I just moved to Canada a few days ago, from the USA."  I tried to sound not nervous in front of my new classmates, to hide my fear. I really did not want nerd or timid, because I knew what happened to kids like that. Being bullied, of course. "O...kay. Now, class, is there any seat left for our friend here?" My teacher scanned the class, searching for any open seat. Well, of course, no one is willing to raise their hand and offer their nearest unoccupied seat to me. For them, I still a strange, weird object, which needs to be evaluated first, before they could decide, whether to befriend or to be their playtoys.  The classroom was still in deafening silence, though Miss Evangeline kept repeating the same question. "Anyone?" I knew that she just repeated the same question to see, if anyone wanted to sit beside the new kid, and became his new friend. Unfortunately for her, none of the kids raised their hand. To be honest, I was quite hurt by this, but I never let it expressed, written on my face. Suddenly, a husky, rough voice shouted from far behind the class. "The new kid can sit here." I tried to look for the voice, who willingly to sit beside me. P/s: Trust me, I really regretted to accept his offer and sit beside him. What I saw was a tall guy, I assume, from his long legs crossed, resting on his table. He looked kind of buff, as I can see his biceps, moving beneath his black leather jacket, and trust me, his arms looked big enough to lift a big, heavy stone.  Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but damn, those guns looked big! And his face, I got to admit it, the dark-tanned skin looks macho on him, as he has the nose of the Greek God. Maybe, Ares is making his comeback as a human this time. His eyes, let say, one can be enchanted by his emerald, green eyes. We are not talking about his hair yet, but you might know what it will be...exactly, heart throbbed. "Mr Adam, we already discuss this, no smoking during school. You can do that, whenever I'm not watching you." Miss Evangeline looked annoyed. "And please, put your legs down. Your desk is for you to put your books, and books have the knowledge, where it goes straight to your brain. And your brain is located in your head." Adam mimicked Miss Evangeline as he moved his palm, imitating a duck mouth, while laughing and locked his eyes at me, smirked. "And you don't want your legs are the only inputs in your head, right?" Adam quickly shoved his arm back to his back, nodded to the teacher. "Yeah, yeah, mom." Miss Evangeline rolled her eyes, while pointed to me the seat vacated, next to the guy named Adam. I nodded, and for the first time, I felt happy.  "Maybe, this guy is fun to hang around." I thought to myself, trying to impress the guy. I wanted to become his friend. NOTE TO PAST SELF: YOU ARE GOING TO REGRET    THAT I slowly walked to the seat next to him. Though we made eye contacts, he immediately turned to the windows.  "Mr Adam, the cigarette, please." Adam threw the leftover burned cigarette out of the window and turned to face Miss Evangeline. He made are-you-happy face to Miss Evangeline. She shook her head and started her lesson. Do you think I can focus on her class? Of course not! I thought hard on how to make an impression toward Adam, but none of it happened, because I did not saw any opening. He did not even turn to talk to me after I sat next to him. I tried to get his attention, but none of it worked. Feeling defeated, I put my head down. "Okay, that's for today. See you tomorrow." Shoot! I did not even focus on what happened in the class. And I did not have any friends yet, to ask about it. Everyone rushed to return home, as it was already the last class. Throughout the period, I cannot even focus on any of them, as I wanted to impress Adam so bad. In the recess too, I been searching for him, but cannot even find him anywhere, so I eat alone near the school's park.  "Maybe this is my chance!" I thought I might have the chances after school, but he has already left the class earlier. I sighed and walked out of the school. I tried to walk home because I want to look at the stores during my ride to school with my dad. Everyone had already left school, so it was me all alone, in front of the school. "Wow, for the first day, it kinda gloom." After a few steps, I heard the sounds of motorcycles, approaching fast next to me. I turned to watch, afraid that maybe I in their way. The bike stopped when I turned around. A man with a black helmet parked his bike and walked toward me. Somehow, I knew the jacket that the person wore. He walked until we were a few inches apart, and my face was facing his chest. The rider took off his helmet, and it was...Adam?! "Hey new kid, wanna ride?" He handed me another half-full helmet. Still felt shocked, Adam then snapped his finger in front of me. "You wanna go?" He walked to his bike and started it. I then immediately put on his helmet and ran to the bike. Adam patted to the back seat behind him, signalling me to hop on. "Come on!" Though his helmet was a full one, I can still hear his husky voice. The space behind him was quite small, so I squeezed to him. It was the first time that I was this closet to another man, and it somehow felt like something moved in my stomach. Adam turned the gear, and his bike started to speed, accelerating toward the road. I suddenly lost my balance and grabbed to any nearest thing, his waist. "You okay back there? Hold on tight!" Though he shouted, I cannot hear any during our ride in the road. Somehow, I felt his left hand grabbed my left hand and tightened it to my right arm. I got his intention, so I hugged him softly, but tight. Suddenly, the time moved slowly, while I was in that position, embracing each moment. "We already here." Adam stopped his bike on the top of the nearest hill, parked underneath a pine tree. I followed behind him nearly, un-tightened my helmet.  "Where are we? LOL, I just remembered you never told me where are we supposed to go." I suddenly realized that I followed Adam without knowing the destination. He smirked, and then he played with my hair, roughly. "Next time, ask. And, didn't your parent told you to not follow a stranger?" Adam chuckled, to which I was quite amused to see someone like him can chuckle in that adorable manner, underneath his rebel looks. "Um, I already big enough to make my own decision." I tried to look fierce, but it only made him laughed harder. He then took my arm and grabbed me to the bench on the edge of the hill. We then sat on the bench and watched the sunset. I did not realize it was already this late since we left school.  Maybe, I was too busy, embracing each of the moments, hugging him during the ride.  Wait... What has happened to me?! Am I in love with...a guy?! "Beautiful, isn't it?" Adam's question woke me from my random thoughts. Fortunately, he did not saw me slapping my head frequently, trying to think, am I like this guy? We both sat beside each other while watching the sun was about to set. It was pretty. I was too amazed watching the view on that time, not realizing that Adam was watching me that whole time. I turned to ask him something, and finally caught him glared at me earlier, but he quickly turned to the sun again. I felt my face was boiled red, so I too turned to watch the sun again. "Do..y...ha..girl...?" Adam's voice sounded nervous when he asked me something. "What? Sorry, can't hear you. Maybe because of the wind?" I asked politely, hiding my red-face. "Do...you have a girlfriend?" I was surprised when he asked that but somehow felt funny. "Nope. Still flying solo and single." He nodded, and I felt like I caught a glimpse of him smiling. Then... Oops, that's goes my quota for today. I need to sleep early for today, so I can wake up even earlier.  I shall continue this... When I want to. Night, diary~
