Chapter 18

It was the last night in South Korea, and despite fears about the ghosts, nothing terrible happened to us. We were happy that, for once, our secret had born fruit. How we managed to keep it under wraps is something we don’t take for granted. Considering that we read a lot about the folklore that ignited fear in us, we still pulled through. It was an achievement for us. We managed to convince Uncle Chan Yeol not to inform our parents of the secret plan to visit the haunted sites, and gladly, he abode. Most people were victims of ghostly attacks from the stories we read and learned while visiting that contaminated site. We were surprised that none of us suffered from the fate of a ghost attack. It was our main worry. In the evening, after visiting Jeju Island, Uncle Chan Yeol purchased some snacks for us. He was sure we weren’t going to sleep. There was a lot to do. The stories and experiences we got while in South Korea were strange. We were all eager to meet our parents the next day in the evening. After dinner, we assembled in the sitting room for a movie. It was not enjoyable, but we found ourselves glued to it. While watching, we chatted endlessly about everything.

At the movie's c****x, Uncle Chan Yeol excuses himself by asking to leave. We had no choice but to release him. He promised to check on us the following morning as he took us to the airport. Our parents have made the booking: it was a bittersweet moment. Amber Ray and Bridget Vergara saw him off. They came back almost immediately.“Wait, did you hear that!” Bridget Vergara informs the rest. “Lower the T.V volume, please,” Dhruv commanded John Paul, holding the remote. They listened, but there was no sound. “Were you kidding us?” Henry Sayo roars. “I am sorry,” Bridget apologizes. Della Roberts requests Meera Katrina to escort him as he wants to take the best shots of the city that night. Since it was the last day, Katrina willingly agreed. The two leave the living room and head to the balcony. The breeze is cold, and they seem to enjoy the view of the town. They chat and laugh hysterically.

Soon later, Bridget Vergara follows the rest of the group who are on the balcony. From a distance, Bridget can’t figure out where they are. She looked around the patio, and indeed they were not there. She became worried. Usually, the troop plays a lot, and sometimes it can be hard to understand. Bridget Vergara returns to the house and informs the rest that Della Roberts and Katrina were not on the balcony. “Hey, buddies!” Bridget informs the rest as she pants heavily. “What is it this time?” John Paul responds angrily. “Della and Katrina are missing,” Bridget tells her friends, as everyone is shocked by the information. They began searching around the house but couldn’t find them. ” Could it be the usual hide and seek games?” Sandra says. “I hope so!” Dhruv says. “Or there is a ghost!” Bridget Vergara says.“I couldn’t find Della and Katrina on the balcony,” Bridget told the rest. “Then let us try to search for the outside of the house,” Damian suggests. “Sure!” Jun Suravi agrees as they leave in search of their friends. “There is an apparition of an image of a person standing on the far end of our balcony.” Hailey Beryl spots it. She screams in fear as she blocks her friends from going out. “But my brother is missing!” Sandra Roberts desperately pleads. They look at each other, confused about the whole event. Sandra becomes angry and terrified. “I saw that image on the internet, GOBLIN!” Hailey Beryl cries as she locks the door. “The ghost!” Amber Ray moves back. She grabs John Paul’s hand and asks him to be with her. “I am scared!” Amber Ray cries out. “So am I,” John Paul whispers to her. Sandra Roberts' younger brother, Della, had been a fantastic younger brother. The news of his missing hurts her deeply. With tears in her eyes, she begs her friends to help her locate her only brother. It was strange; Sandra Roberts wasn’t scared f anything. Her only desire was to find Della Roberts. Nothing frightened her, not even the goblin that Hailey told them about. It was a daring moment for the troop. “Della was witty; I know she will survive!” Laura Martins tries to console her friends. The ten friends begin imagining that a ghost has taken captive Della Roberts and Meera Katrina. Sandra Roberts screams in fear, pointing out a spirit in the house. Amber Ray can’t help herself as her mind is full of visions of the dead bodies resulting from the Jeju Island m******e. The imagination of ghosts haunting the apartment fills my mind. John Paul wakes up from his seat and requests his friends to follow him. “Let us go and find Della and Katrina,” he says as he drags Jun and Dhruv along. As they stepped out, they saw three people standing by the balcony, as Hailey Beryl mentioned earlier. “Could it be a ghost?” Sandra Roberts questioned. “Why was Goblin suddenly tormenting us?” Sandra Roberts asked the rest. “Those standing there are three people, and not two?” Henry Sayo retaliated. “I didn't believe in ghosts at all.” Sandra Roberts tells her friends. While they are arguing and discussing, wondering who the third person is, Bridget Vergara moves quickly and goes after them. She pushes one of the three as one falls to the ground with a thud.

“Someone is hurt!” Sandra Roberts cries as the rest are confused. Rage fills Sandra as she watches Katrina walk towards her, weeping. The third person they were seeing wasn’t there anymore. “Whom were you with?! Sandra Roberts questions.”Why are you crying?” Dhruv also asks Katrina. “Where have you been?" Jun Suravi's questions angrily. “And where is my brother?” Sandra angrily questions. Katrina looks at them and denies having been with him. “I don’t know what you are talking about?” Katrina rudely responds. The response shocks the rest. Deep inside, Katrina was convinced that the person who fell from the balcony was his brother. However, she was surprised when Katrina denied having met him before. Bridget Vergara realizes that she murdered someone. To her, the vision of the three people was blurred. She was pushing the alleged ghost but was surprised to see Katrina. She knew that she had committed a crime. Angrily, Sandra Roberts attacks Meera Katrina commanding her to provide his brother Della Roberts who was missing. On the other hand, Meera denies having been with Della Roberts. Even though everyone claims to have seen the two walk out of the house, Katrina vehemently denies it. “It is common for friends to fight.” John Paul informs the rest, but he stammers while speaking. “But it is not the best time...” John Paul asks the rest to try and stand together. Sometimes small fights can turn into large ones, and you may have to work hard to sort things out.” Henry Sayo adds. Sandra Roberts grabs Meera Katrina pulls her hair as she cries for help; Henry Sayo and Dhruv Khan try to stop the two from fighting. It wasn’t an easy fight. They were arguing on the balcony as their friends begged them to stop fighting for fear of falling off. Within the blink of an eye, Sandra releases Meera Katrina after Jun and Dhruv Khan overpower her. Accidentally, Meera grabs Dhruv forcefully, and they fall. Desperately, they begin arguing as they rush to view them. In the stairway, Amber Ray scolds Sandra for causing the tragedy. Someone screams that the ghost is following them. They ran towards the gate, raising the alarm in the entire estate. The police get a notice of the disturbing noise coming from their apartment.Out of confusion, some go back to the apartment while others go to the ground floor to confirm the condition of their friends. Sadly, they find Della Roberts, Meera Katrina, and Dhruv Khan’s bodies lying on the ground. A siren of the police car is heard as the gateman allows it into the compound. As the police enter the house to check on the rest, they come down with the bodies of Amber Ray and Henry Sayo. The rest are shocked as five of their friends die on the last day before they travel. A somber mood.That night, Sandra Roberts, Jun Suravi, Laura Martins, Damian Pena, John Paul, Bridget Vergara, and Henry Sayo spent their night in police custody. Uncle Chan Yeol hears the devastating news of the demise of his niece along with the four friends. He can’t stop blaming himself for allowing them to spend time alone. It was 5:00 when Uncle Chan Yeol received the news; he was too broken even to visit them at the station. He has torn between informing the parents and allowing the state to handle the matter. His mind can’t stop thinking of how he can relay the message to his only sister Nina. The situation puts him in a desperate state.
