"Good morning ma," Anna greeted. "Good morning, how may I help you?" "I saw the notice that you are in need of a tailor here," she said. "Yes. Are you a tailor?" Ruby asks sizing Anna up. "Yes, I am." "Hmm, Martins come o. Someone wants a job," Ruby called. Martins was a lanky guy and when he joined them he looked at Anna and asked Ruby, "is she the one?" Ruby nods and they both start to laugh. "Look young lady, we only hire professionals here." "But I'm good," Anna replied. "We don't need good either, we need best," Ruby replied. "Aren't you going to give me a chance to show you what I can do? You might be surprised." "We don't need surprises," Martins said. "Go and find a job elsewhere." Anna left dejected. They rejected her without giving her a chance As she was about to go out of the compound a guy called her. "It's better you come back by ten on Monday," he said. "The boss is not around and she is the one in charge of employing people. Don't mind them." "Oh, thank you," she replied. "And prepare for anything. If you have sketches of designs come with them, our boss can't be predicted." "Alright, I will prepare." When Anna got home she took a nap before going to a bar where she served drinks to customers. It was not her ideal job and even her brother didn't like it but it was better than nothing and she hated being idle. "Hey small girl, bring four bottles of hero for me," said Dj. He was a regular at the bar and Anna disliked him because he always made advances towards her and funny enough, he was married. Anna took the drinks to his table where he sat with his friend Tipper (because he was a tipper driver). "Smallie, join me na," said Dj "No, thank you. I'm busy," she replied. "Haha, just one drink," he said. "Look my friend can take good care of you," added Tipper. "I know but I'm busy," she replied leaving them. "Is Dj still fooling himself?" Janet her colleague ask. Is there a day he doesn't fool himself? I just feel sorry for his wife." "Me too. That's how he will drink till oga Sam begs him to go home,"Janet said. Oga Sam was the owner of the bar. "Smallie, bring more drinks," shouted Dj. Anna shakes her head and goes to serve him. Suddenly, he grabs her butt. "Dj, what's the meaning of this?" She asks slapping his hands. "What is wrong with you?" "Are you talking to me anyhow?" Dj asks. "Because of what? Na you get the bar? Or you want make I slap you?" Oga Sam hears the noise and comes out, after Anna narrates what happened, he tells her to go back to her job and then he cautions Dj. "Anna, make sure you don't walk to the motor park alone," said oga Sam. Dj and his friends can be mischievous. "OK sir," she replied. When she got home that night, she didn't tell her brother what happened or else he would have insisted she stopped working at the bar. "Anna, did your brother tell you your mum will be around this weekend?" Tobe asks. "Which mum? Brother, is it true?" Anna asks. "Yes," her brother replied. "Why?" "I don't know which of her friends daughter is getting married this weekend," he replied. "Oh God. I better look for somewhere else to spend the weekend," Anna asks. "Why?" Tobe asks. "Why mum will worry me to death when she comes." Her brother starts to laugh. "But she is not that bad," Tobe said. "You don't know our mum. She can kill with her mouth. Why now?" Anna whines. "Brother please don't tell her I work in a bar." "My lips are sealed," he replied. "Did you still go and check for that job?" Tobe asks "Yeah and you needed to see the way I was humiliated," Anna replied. "It was pure injustice." "Injustice?" Robert asked curious. "Yes, they just looked at me from head to toe and declared me unsuitable. It was when I was leaving a guy told me to come back on Monday that then the boss will be around." "I guess it is good you have another chance," Tobe said. "Yeah."
