Anna's hustle

First day at work

"You seem so excited today and you didn't go to work," said Robert.

"Well, I've gotten a new job at Didi's stitches and I start tomorrow," Anna replied.

"Wow congratulations," he replied. "Hope you are prepared? It's going to be tougher than working in a bar."

"I know brother. I think I impressed my boss because I completed the task she gave me today."

"That's good."

"And there are some snakes I have to put to shame now that I'm going to be working with them," Anna said.

"Please, do not go and start fighting with your colleagues," warned her brother.

When Anna got to work the next day, only few of the staffs including Ruby had arrived. She went to the work station allocated to her and started sewing the cloth she cut yesterday. Her colleagues mainly ignored her even when she greeted. She was still busy when aunty D came in with a man.

"D, I think you should participate,"he said.

"I've heard you sir," she replied.

"Good morning ma, good morning sir," Anna greeted.

"Hey Anna, it's good you are working already," said aunty D. "Keep it up."

"Thank you ma," Anna replied.

Aunty D went into her office with the man while Jide joined her.

"Jide, does that man also work here?" Anna asks.

"Which man?"

"The one that came with aunty D."

Jide laughs before saying, "that's aunty D's husband."

"Husband? She doesn't look married," Anna said.

"How do married people look? Aunty D is married with two kids."

"Wow! She doesn't look it."

"Well, now you are working here, you will see that she is a fashionista. She even make clothes for celebrities and models and so you will have to step up to catch up with the rest of us."

"I will do my best," she replied.

"Please do. Aunty is a very nice boss and will always give you credit for your work despite you working under her, so the more productive you are, the more money you make."

"Kelvin, you know I have been avoiding fashion shows for a while now," Debby said to her husband.

"But you will gain more exposure from it D. You haven't participated in any since Wilson was born."

"You don't have to tell me, I know," Debby said.

"You know you like it, just do it," Kelvin said.

"OK sir, I've heard you. Since you are not working today, how about you get Stella and Wilson from school?"

"With all pleasure baby. We will have fun together," he replied.

"And no junk," she added.

"I cross my heart," he replied kissing her. "Have a nice day."

"You too honey, bye." When her husband left, Denny called for a staff meeting.

"Good morning everyone," she said. "First of all I want to use this medium to welcome Anna to our team and to appeal to you all to assist her where necessary. Secondly we will be participating in Neon fashion show in August."

They all start to clap.

"All of you have to present your ideas in form of sketches to me before the end of next week, she said. We are already in May and you know I like to complete all my work before schedule, so June, July will be tough. The date for the show is 25th of August, so people get to work and I want to see your ideas before next weekend. Jide come with me."

Jide leaves with Debby and Anna is excited and can't wait to show Aunty D her ideas.
