chapter twelve MORGAN I clutch a big stuffed pillow as Will disappears into the bathroom to tend to his wounds. I’m a little upset that he won’t let me help him, but I get it. It’s shocking that he didn’t try harder to kick me out of his room given his discomfort with women. I must admit that my reasons for staying are as selfish as they are thoughtful. I won’t be able to fall asleep tonight unless I ensure that Will is going to be okay. His pain, his discomfort and every bruise on his face is all my fault. How can I leave him like this? “What were you doing in the casino? Do you gamble?” I ask. That idea is totally against what I’ve seen of Will’s character, but people can surprise you.
