Chapter 01: A journey begins

It's been a year since i started working, well now everyone will be thinking why am i working as an adventure as well as trainee knight,

Well it's for gaining experience everyone has to do both for 3 years and then an exam has to be passed to become a proper knights but even if you fail, You can still work as an adventurer.

"Hey, Elox just in time. You overslept or something."

"Yo, James well i did overslept a little. By the way where are the others."

"Well you are the second person to arrive."

"They all running late, damn and here I skipped my breakfast."

"Let's search for some quests while waiting, Here eat this bread."

"James, you are a lifesaver. Thanks brother, well next treat will be mine."

"Sure sure, spend a lot for me."

We head inside the guild, and start searching the quest board.

"James, found a good one, Hunting the Carver wolves."

"Elox, show me."

James came to look for the information provided in the notice.

It was written that they require 10 carver wolves body.

The Reward was 15000 Gold Recc

Class: C

Recommended party Rank: B

"Elox, this is not for us we are a D Rank party."

"Oh, I didn't read that, sorry i got all excited for this."

"Well, I don't mind that, Here this one is perfect for us, Class E and party Level E is required."

"What's the quest?"

"Searching for some herbs near pine fort, all herbs are described in it,thats damn easy. And Reward in 8000 Silver Recc."

Well searching for some herbs is not very adventurous but it is good for low ranks like us.

"Well let's discuss this with our members."

Bell Tolls

"It's the 8th Bell, They are late."

"James, i got a weird feeling about this."

We have known each other about an year and no one breached the time limit. Even if anyone was unable to join they always sent someone with a message.

"Elox, let's ask around town. If someone saw them, we can atleast confirm that they are safe."

We were tensed, we rushed outside the guild and started looking for them.

"Sir Elox and Sir James Good Morning."

"Miss Daecia, Good Morning. By the way did you see Gran, Misty and Rena anywhere."

Miss Daecia is the new Guild advisor, she is currently watching over our party as we are low ranking party."

"Oh those three have gone for a quest, they came at the 6th bell, They were in a hurry and took a job, well it was an easy job, so i let them go."

"What was the job? Miss Daecia."

James asked that with an angered expression. Well any leader would get mad if other members don't let the leader know.

"Well, the quest was to eliminate some slimes near the Clover lake."

"Wait a minute, wait a minute. Clover lake, you mean the lake which is near the jenny forest."

"Ah, yes that's the one."

"Elox, let's go. I hope we will make it in time."

"Sure, James we should take the horses from the guard's stable."

"Wait, what happened?."

Miss Daecia was confused. But we didn't had time to explain. She just recently joined so we can't blame her, The forest is home for many beasts. Even if the quest was easy. The lake is something every beast uses and Early morning near the lake is never good.

"What were those fools thinking when they took the quest. They broke the rules we made together."

"I don't understand Misty and Gran can be foolish but why Miss Rena joined them instead of stopping them."

James looked pissed and I was too, We were just praying and hoping that they are all alive, We were swimming in question without any answers.

After 20 chimes worth of Horse riding we arrived at the lake.

"Elox, You go Right and I will go towards left. If you found them cast a flame magic toward the sky, if i found them i will do the same."

We hurried to our own directions without wasting any time. I was worried about them, After a few chimes, I came across some water slimes. I used low ranking Freezing chant to immobilize them and went on ahead on the horse.

"Where are you guys,where are you guys?"

I was muttering those lines as my tension level was getting to peak, But then i saw a fire line magic in the air and the sound was huge.

"James found them, let's turn around now shall we."

I responded with a light magic lumina and started to head in there direction.

"Today is a really weird day. Atleast they are safe."

"I should hurry and get back to them."

Tearing the air an arrow was shot towards me, i lunged back to save myself and fall off the horse, The was horse startled and kept running in the straight direction, I got back up, unsheathed my sword and got in a defensive position.

"Goblins, damn this weird day is turning in a bad day."

Goblin archers attack again, and this time to dodge i jumped towards my right, the aim was lacking and missed me, the goblins rush towards me, while the archers readied their arrows,

*grahh, gahhh."

The Goblins attacked me while letting a huge roar

clank, clank.

I defended myself from the first attack, by parrying it, and pushing the goblin backside, i took a 360 turn and slashed the next goblin's neck, I started chanting the wind wall magic as soon as i slashed the second, while chanting, i tackled the third goblin, the goblin falls in front of me. The archers shoot the arrows, but i was ready with my wind wall and i cast it before, they arrows reaches me, the first goblin which was pushed while parrying try to attack from the back, I simply get aside, use my leg to make it fall in hid own momentum, The goblin falld over the third goblin. And i stab them both with my sword, the wind wall incantation ends and the third batch of arrow was going to be shooted towards me, I run towards the fourth goblin. The goblin was ready to swing his baton, but i slides and kick, the goblin legs making it fall over me as the archer shoots, the fourth goblin body became my shield. I pick a stone and throw it toward one of the goblin archer, whom i was able to see. I ran towards the goblin while it was regaining composure.

My blade pierced through the chest of the goblin Archer.

But it seems like all archers were stationed at different position. I hid myself behind the tree near me, as it wasn't a quest even if i die they will not be responsible. I should try to call for backup, i used my handkerchief to clean my wound near the shoulder.

Swoosh thackkkkk

The arrows hit the stump of the tree.

" Damn, Those guys found me."

I use my leftover mana to cast a flame bomb in the sky, It was a bad strategy, I mean goblin will find my exact location, but even i don't my body to be left here.

"Fire Bomb, activate."

As soon as the spell exploded in sky, the goblins were all around me.

"They will surround me soon, I guess it's time for round two."

I sincerely prayed in my heart that my comarades will get back safe.

"I gave a war cry and attacked a goblin near me."

Slash swoosh

The blood of the goblin was all on me. The goblins near me all attacked me. I threw my knife at one goblin and swung me sword at others with all the power i had.

"I will make it alive to my family and friends."

Aahhhhhh

In that frenzy i forgot about the archers. I was already at my mana limit.

Swoosh

One arrow hit on my back. And helpless i screamed in pain

"Aagh."

Still i was on my feet. I used my all energy to kill as many goblins till i passed out.
