Chapter 2

Sasha’s POV

The door swung open with Luna Margaret dashing towards me like I was her next meal. At this point, I thought I was actually a meat for her until she stopped abruptly in my front. I was standing gazing at nowhere, in particular, already tensed as I felt like peeing in my pants.

“Make sure you don’t repeat this nonchalant attitude of yours if you want to remain in the palace for a long time,” She said as if she somehow wanted me to be here. I murmured a “Yes ma’am” before she made her way out of the room.

I just fell on my bed and before I knew what was happening, I was enveloped by utter darkness. I slept off. The next morning, I woke up at exactly 7 AM and made my way to the bathroom for my bathroom business. I was still in the shower when I received a knock on the door. ‘It might be Veronica’, I thought to myself, and my thought was confirmed when she told me that the family was waiting for me before they had breakfast.

I quickly made my way out of the bathroom to get dressed at my ultimate speed. “I will be there in a second”, I replied to Veronica while getting ready as fast as I could. I know that I have made a costly mistake that will attract the wrath of Luna Margaret today. I just have to be ready to face her again, this morning.

I got to the dining room to find the royal household sitting, waiting for me to arrive. “Why do you have to keep us all waiting, don’t you know that we are very busy people and have something to do with our daily lives?” I heard from one of the dining occupants, and I checked to see that it was Luna Margaret, who was sitting very close to the same man who had brought me to the palace the previous night.

The alpha bent forward and spoke to his luna, and she stayed quiet. It seemed she was about to keep on going before, and I feared the worst might happen. ‘This is just my first day of eating with them, is this how I am going to be treated all the days of my orphanage life?’ I imagined, feeling sorry for myself.

“Sasha, come and sit here” The alpha gestured for me to come and sit in a seat reserved for me. He reserved the seat near him. I think he wants me to be close to him so that I will be protected from the predators in this pack. In his royal household.

I took the sit timidly, which I noticed was observed by everyone. Who am I to blame? I'm still a child who happened to lose her parents just a few days ago. I could be timid. I could be anything.

“So, Sasha how are you coping with the new environment?” Someone asked me from the midst of the diners. I only chuckled, unsure of what to say. It was a lady who talked. She seems to be related to the household. The dining table should be for only the royal household, I guess.

“As the alpha of the pack and the head of this house, I want every one of you to welcome Sasha to this house. I mean everyone”. The alpha said, and I felt my body tense.

“Welcome, Sasha”, everyone said all together, and they introduced themselves accordingly. I was happy that the alpha accepted me into his family, but what I heard next made my blood freeze.

“And I hereby adopt Sasha as my daughter,”, the alpha said, and immediately, the dining hall went deafening silent. The whole world stopped for a moment and we all could feel it.

I turned my head to look at the man who just said the mysterious word and he was looking final in his decision. He was unfazed by everyone's expression and shock.

I turned my face towards my food, only to find the Luna staring weirdly at me. “What?! How could you make this decision without consulting me?” The Luna asked no one else but his mate, the alpha.

This is where the drama continues, I guessed.

“And, who said I need your permission to make all my decisions?” My lady, you have to understand that this is complicated.

‘Complicated?’ I thought to myself. This family is becoming more complicated with each passing moment.

“I'll explain to you later. I'll tell you everything you need to know, for now, let's have our meal in peace and quiet,” He said to his Luna, and everyone started digging into their meal again.

I was lost in thoughts, so I didn't know I had been using the forks and spoons to play on the meal before me. The shout from the Luna brought me out of my thoughts once again.

This was the same reason I forgot I was in the bathroom and spent too much time. I get lost in thoughts, reminiscing the moments I've had with my parents. Sometimes, I find it difficult to believe that it actually happened. That this rogue really killed my parents.

“Sasha, or whatever you are called. If you don't want to eat the meal, get out of this place” I jolted out of my trance state and became sober like I had just finished running a marathon.

“Luna, please take it easy” It seemed like everyone sensed what was about to happen at the moment. They knew their Luna very well. More than I do or anyone else does.

“It is either you choose me, or you choose your new daughter”, she declared angrily and left the dining hall. The alpha stood up and followed his Luna.

He is a good man, but my parents were my best. They were my world. Why do they have to leave me to be subjected to this cruelty?

“It is your fault, strange girl”. One of the occupants said and angrily left the table. Everyone started leaving until I was left with one of them. I could recognize she was the same person who gave me a nice welcome when I arrived at the table.

“Come, I want to show you something.” She gestured to me, and I followed her outside the palace.
