Chapter 4

"My PA," he said.      A realization twinkled in his eyes. I wanted to laugh aloud. He couldn't take a damn hint. "Do- do you think she photo-shopped the pictures?" I mumbled. "Well, she always hinted she liked me," he gasped. "No s**t Sherlock. Whenever I would tell you, you would dismiss me," I scoffed. "Well she never made obvious signs," he defended. "She stripped naked in front you claiming she spilled her coffee and it soaked her clothes. She would wear the most revealing outfits. She tried to kiss you. And she rubbed circles around your d**k!" I yelled. "I thought it was her teasing me. And I really did think the coffee soaked her dress," he laughed.       I threw my hands in the air in exasperation. He was impossible. "You are so naive!" I yelled angrily. "Only for you," he winked. I groaned at his immaturity. "Never forget that we are divorced and will never be anything ever again," I threatened,” No matter what happens.” “Whether or not I can bring myself to forgive you, things could never be the same.” “We’ve both changed,” I added. "Don't worry," he whispered as he caresses my cheek," I'll fire her now and when I get back, you can tell me everything."       I felt his soft lips on mine. Before I knew it, he was gone. ~•~•~•~ THIRD PERSON POV      Alex quickly dialed his PA, Kelly's, number. "Hello sir," came an attempted seductive voice. Note the word attempted. "You're fired," Alex said quickly and proudly. "Wait!" Kelly screeched. "You heard me," he said with a gleam in his eyes. "I'll be there in 5," he instructed," And when I get there, I expect your sorry ass to be out of my office." "But why sir?" she begged. "Because you ruined my marriage," Alex said without hesitation. 'She will pay,' he thought. "B- but you don't understand," she pleaded," You and I, we're meant for each other. I love you." "As if," he scoffed. Alex hung up the phone before she could respond. ~•~•~•~ Lacey's POV      I let out a sigh. This can't be happening. Why is he back in my life? Why? I've managed fine without him. My company, money, and my son should say so. I don't need him anymore.      But why do I still miss him? Why do I still wish he was here?      I took a seat at my desk and started to work. A few minutes passed before I realized I could no longer do it. A single tear fell, followed by more. The strangest part, I didn't sob. I didn't make a noise, it was all tears and a few sniffles. "Ma'am," asked Violet (her PA). "What?" I snapped. "H- here are your files," she said as she set them on the edge of my desk. I put my head down hoping she wouldn't she the dried tear stains on my cheeks or my disheveled hair. "Ma'am," she asked to my dismay. "What Violet?" I said with annoyance. "Are- are you okay?" She stammered. "I'm fine," I grumbled. "No you're not," she said walking back to me.      I felt her rubbing my back. "I may be just your personal assistant, but you can talk to me," she consoled," Does this have to do with Mr. Ryder who walked in?"      I silently nodded my head. "Is he the reason you are always yelling at me?" she questioned. "How did you know?" I sniffled. "I may not be the best PA," she smiled warmly," but I can sure read people." "Would you like to tell me?" She asked.      I sighed before agreeing.
