Chapter 2

"Alex," I breathed out. Why is he here? "Hello gorgeous," he smirked. "What do you want?" I snapped.      The bile rose to my throat as tears threatened to fall. I choked back the tears. He had to know I was no longer the helpless, naive child he was once married to.       He looked so calm, so happy. While I was here, broken and in pain. Especially today. "I would like to speak to you my love, nothing more," he said. He pretended to be offended as he looked into my eyes. "I'm not your 'love'," I said," You lost that right the minute you divorced me without reason." "I've come to win that right back," he said with a toothy grin. This man's audacity, I swear.        He tried to enter but I immediately stopped him. "No, you haven't," I argued," Now please leave." "No," he reasoned," Please Lily listen to me. I'm sorry okay. I was an i***t to let you go. You're the best thing that ever happened to me. And being the dumbass I am, I let you go." "You didn't let me go," I whispered," You threw me out of your life." "I know, I'm so sorry," he pleaded," I love you so much. I haven't stopped thinking about you. Even when I thought you were cheating on me, I still loved you. I still hoped it wasn't true." "What are you talking about?" I scoffed. "The- the pictures," he answered. "What damn pictures?" I demanded. What the hell is he talking about? "That- that's why I divorced you," he explained," I was given an envelope containing pictures of you cheating on me." "And you believe those over your own wife?" I said.      The first tear fell. How could he? I gave him everything and yet he trusted some damn photoshopped photos over his own wife. "I know, I know," he begged," and I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. I am so sorry. But please give me a chance. I want to make everything up to you. I know that I don't deserve a chance. Hell, I don't even deserve this chance to be speaking to you again. But I love you too much to stay away any longer."      I shushed him not wanting to wake my precious André up. "Why are we whispering?" he yelled. "Shut up," I said," Go or I will call security." "Leave," I said as I shut the door quickly. I slid to the ground against the door as the tears fell. A sob escaped my mouth. Why now? After 4 years he decides to come. Why? I felt a small set of hands touch my cheeks. I looked up to find my son wrap his arms around my neck and hug me. "What's wrong mommy?" he asked. "I saw your daddy," I sniffed. "Daddy?" his eyes lit up," Where? Where?" "Daddy, he has work to go to," I lied.      No matter how much Alex hurt me, he hasn't done anything to André and doesn't deserve to be the villain is Andre's life. "Oh ok," he nodded.      What have I done? ~•~•~•~ "Violet," I snapped to my PA. "Yes ma'am," she asked right away. "File the rest of the papers and order me a double-shot espresso with caramel drizzle, 2 centimeters of foam, and stirred for exactly 5 seconds," I instructed. "Yes, ma'am."       I walked into my office and began the days work. And no, I don't care how mean I am. The world will never experience the pain I have. So why does it matter? "You don't have to be so rude," said a voice I dreaded. Without looking up or saying anything to him, I said in the speaker," Call security." "Woah, woah, woah," said Alex," Please, I just want to talk." "Then talk, " I yelled. "I've come to ask you out," he smiled.       That smile I love so dearly. The one I would just melt for. That smile that I was still in love with. "No," I said without hesitation. "But why?" he whined.         He used to whine like that to get me to laugh when I refused something. Something I loved so much about him. "Because I hate you," I said simply as I stood up to get my PA. "Please Lacey," he complained," I want to make everything up to you. I've missed you." That was it. "Oh really," I said in a sarcastic sweet voice," After 4 years you miss me? After accusing me of cheating and kicking me out you miss me? After humiliating me in front of the entire world you miss me? After my parents disown me you miss me? After my friends called me a skit and a w***e you miss me? After neglecting our children you miss me?"       I slapped my hand out my mouth at what I just said. Sh*t. "What did you just say?" he whispered gently. "Nothing," I stated quickly. "You said children," he stated. "No, I didn't," I said. "That's what you were going to say," he gasped," You- you were going to tell me that you were pregnant. That's why you shushed me last night."       I sighed. I give up. I do. He had no rights to Andre and never will. "Your right. I was pregnant when you kicked me out and divorced. I was pregnant when my parents disowned me, when my friends shamed me, when the world thought I was a slut when I wasn't." "But guess what," I continued," They're not your children." "What'd you mean? So you did cheat on me?" he accused. "No, it's my child because I raised him on my own and loved him on my own." "Wait," he said," Lacey, first you used plural but when speaking about the present day, you used singular nouns."       He always was intelligent. Nothing got past him, except photoshopped pictures apparently. "Care to explain?" he said quietly.
