CHAPTER 3
I opened my way into the office.
“Oh hey babe, How are you doing, what brings you here?” he asked as he made his way towards my chair as I sat exhausted
“Am just a bit exhausted and also a bit overwhelmed” I said as he proceeded to hold my hand.
“Overwhelmed?” he asked
“Yh I kind of got into an argument with oliva this morning…….”
“I have always told you to stay away from her” He interrupted
“Well that isn’t the main reason though, Brown asked me to submit an application but it turns out that it is an international competition she wants me to partake in.”
“That is good news babe” he said moving closer to me.
She was here again I thought as she walked through the door.
“That is good news babe” I said to her angry and confused this she was complaining about being overwhelmed was a big shot. She could become a billionaire through it but what I did not understand was why brown would give it to her.
“Look babe it is all good it all depends on you don’t feel pressured to do anything. If you do not wish to do it then so be it” I told her with the highest hope she’ll actually turn it down.
She looked up at me forcing a tiny smile.
“Thanks, but I guess I’ll still have to go through with it again” She said as she stood up to give me a peck me. I forced a smile annoyed.
“See you” she said walking away.
“ Yh…..…..Alrie’ I called her
“Babe” she turned to me
“If I told you not to go would you still consider going?” I asked.
She gave a swift turn giving a crooked smile.
‘Well why not if due to critical conditions” she said
I smirked at her nodding returning back to my desk.
“Anything wrong?” she asked.
“No all is good I just asked” I smiled.
She returned the smile finally leaving the office.
I drove to Stephanie’s house with a time bomb of anger within me about to explode. I walked towards the door ringing the doorbell.
She was at the door in no time.
“What a pleasant surprise, didn’t realize you still recognize the way to my home” she said as she opened the door gesturing me to enter her home.
“What brings you here?” She asked walking away towards her kitchen.
I walked further into the apartment, it had been a long while and the smell of fresh wooden furniture filled my nostrils. Stephanie had always had a fine nostril for wooden furniture and that had taken most space in her apartment.
“Here” she offered me a drink disengaging me from my thoughts.
“Mmmm” I nodded collecting it from her.
“Have a sit or should I also formally ask you that” she said as she sat.
“Am in no mood for your chit chat, why did you give Alrie a seat at the Tullow oil international competition, you know how big a shot it is?” I asked furiated
“Hey watch your tone, you don’t talk to me like that it is not my fault you don’t want your fiancé to be successful…”
“What the fuck.” I raised my voice at her
“And don’t dare forget that am your boss so lower your fuckin’ voice” She yelled at me.
I stopped the urge to yell back at her she was just lucky to be the CEO and truly that was the only luck she had.
“Stephanie you know me so well that you know that I would not raise my voice at you, am just really shocked at furiated for giving her that sum of opportunity.” I said walking towards her trying my luck to seduce her into agreeing with me.
“Branson this isn’t going to work…. this time alright maybe next time be a bit more brilliant then I’ll give you the opportunity hun we need someone really capapble for the job and she was the most eligible” She said brushing her n****e past me causing a sensitivity. I smirked at this, she was still the same teasing Stephanie age didn’t treat her.
“When you are a bit settled don’t forget to take the document on the table I want It submitted on my table first thing tomorrow……and also do well to get me a coffee also I guess you also still remember my favorite flavor….. kisses” she blowed air kisses as she walked upstairs.
“b***h” I grinned.
“A shot of vodka please” I asked the barttendant as I took my seat at the counter. I felt so overwhelmed I didn’t know how to control it. I had a very short circle of friends, olive was the only person that consisted of my friendship circle and I would have loved to call Ana worst still Mom but it was all seeming impossible I had no doubt they will ever want to see me again. I shook away from the thought that would just have added to my burden.
“Thanks” I said as the barttendant served me.
I gave a sigh smile to myself taking the shot. I savoured in the sharp taste,it felt really refreshing.
“Please another” I said to him.
I opened my phone at it beep.
Where are you. Branson texted.
I switched off I was really in no mood to reply anyone.
I turned to look at the activities of the bar, I had not really noticed anything as I entered, I was so caught up.
“Hi” I heard a voice behind me. I ignored I was in no mood to reply anyone and wasn’t in any mood for a one night stand.
“Hello” the voice approached me but this time directly facing me but the voice turned out to be so dreamy he was like those guys people would easily fall for, perfect face, cheek bones, eyes, teeth. Muscles. I was just hindered by my drink I thought.
I gave a faint smile proceeding to show him my engagement ring. I was in no mood to mingle.
“Oh” he said.
I gulped down the other shot of vodka
“Yh so piss off” I said being very rude. I was just so pissed off to care about anything.
“Well congrats just wanted to tell you that there is a rip on your dress at the back” he said.
I froze feeling confused, how did the rip get there. I felt embarrassed, I had forsaken the man action.
“Uhmm…”
“…no its fine you can just have my jackect…” he said interrupting me and handing over his jacket to me.
“Thanks” I collected it from it tying it to my waist.
I was a bit drunk now I had a very low tolerance for alcohol. The rate at which I succumbed was very high.
I grabbed my bags I had to find my way home today was cloudy enough.
“You need a ride?” he asked
“Am good thanks” I said to him barely turning around to see him. He was such a nice dude like Branson I thought, thinking about Branson he would be worried about me already.
On my way out I stumbled due to my lack of blurry sight.
“Be careful” the gentleman came coming to my rescue.
“You sure you don’t need a ride home?”
“I am fine” I replied curtly.
He was being kind but now doing too much, I do needed help but not from someone I didn’t know he was going to have to just mind his business.
I left the bar.
