Chapter 17
Summer
The crowd cheered for their home team, but we were dominating the field. We were up by fifteen points with half the game left to play. Football could be brutal, and I witnessed it firsthand. Today, I wasn’t really liking the sport.
“Is this just my imagination or does fifty-two seem to be gunning for Evan?”
Andrew Sawyer, the other team physician besides Kate, pursed his lips and peered out of over the field at Evan, who had just taken a brutal hit from an ogre on the other team. “Hmm, he does seem to be a little volatile out there. Let’s see what he does with this next play.”
While we watched on in curiosity, I chewed on my nails. I was way past ready for the game to be over. Then again, like clockwork, number fifty-two went straight for Evan before Cooper could eve
