We waited by the road until Malik finished a call. Suddenly a black SUV pulled up in front of us,

He didn’t say a word as we sat, he had his jaw locked and his eyes locked on something I couldn’t see. Sometimes, I worried for him, there was so much he didn’t day, so much he didn’t want anyone to see, I wanted to help, I wanted him to see he had me though but I just stayed quiet instead.
I turned to the window watching as neon lights blurred through the window as the car sped away from them, every sound I heard felt like a knock from every life I had ever left behind.
