Chapter Eleven – Rumors and Revelations
Christa’s P.O.V.
No one left the room.
Not after Anna’s confession.
The silence that followed was unlike anything I’d ever experienced.
I’d stood on battlefields littered with bodies.
I’d watched Alphas sentence wolves to death.
I’d buried friends.
None of it compared to the silence inside Aaliyah’s bedroom.
Anna sat on the edge of the bed with Serenity beside her, one arm wrapped protectively around her shoulders. Every now and then Serenity brushed tears from Anna’s cheeks without saying a word.
Carlos stood near the window.
Watching.
Thinking.
I knew that look.
He was already ten steps ahead, trying to calculate every possible outcome.
Antonio leaned against the wall, still trying to process everything.
“So…”
He rubbed the back of his neck.
“I’ve spent six months training to become Alpha…”
He looked at Anna.
“…and you spent the same six months growing a baby?”
Despite everything, a weak laugh escaped Anna.
Antonio pointed at her.
“There she is.”
“For a second I thought grief stole my sister.”
The smile disappeared from Anna’s face almost as quickly as it came.
“I’m sorry.”
Antonio crossed the room and crouched in front of her.
“For what?”
“I lied.”
“You protected yourself.”
“I lied to all of you.”
Antonio sighed dramatically.
“I mean…”
He looked around the room.
“I would’ve appreciated at least one hint.”
He shrugged.
“A sticky note.”
“A mysterious craving.”
“Anything.”
Ramiro chuckled under his breath.
Even Carlos fought back a smile.
Antonio looked down at Anna’s stomach.
Then back at her.
“So…”
“I’m gonna be an uncle.”
Anna nodded through fresh tears.
Antonio smiled.
“I’m gonna spoil this kid rotten.”
“You know that, right?”
Anna laughed softly before covering her face.
Serenity kissed the top of her head.
“I’ve got you, baby.”
“I promise.”
I watched them quietly.
Then looked toward Aaliyah.
“Explain.”
The room fell silent again.
Aaliyah slowly met my eyes.
“I found out a few weeks after the battle.”
“You told no one.”
“I promised Anna.”
“You kept this from your Alpha.”
“I kept it from my sister.”
There was pain in her voice.
Not defiance.
Pain.
“I thought I was protecting her.”
Carlos finally spoke.
“The magic.”
Aaliyah nodded.
“We used concealment spells.”
Doña Isolde stepped beside her.
“The oldest ones we could find.”
I frowned.
“They failed.”
“They didn’t fail.”
Aaliyah looked toward Anna.
“They were overwhelmed.”
“By what?”
She hesitated.
Then answered.
“The baby.”
Nobody spoke.
“The child’s magic continued to grow.”
“Every week the concealment became harder to maintain.”
Doña Isolde quietly added,
“I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“The child isn’t casting magic.”
“The child is producing power.”
A chill crept across my skin.
Carlos folded his arms.
“So that’s what we felt.”
Aaliyah nodded.
“The bursts this morning…”
“Were the spell breaking.”
The room fell into thoughtful silence.
Books.
We needed answers.
Within minutes every available table was covered.
Ancient journals.
Pack histories.
Council records.
Old healer texts.
Maria claimed the dining table immediately, surrounding herself with legal records and Council archives.
“If this has ever happened before…”
She flipped open another book.
“…there’ll be a record somewhere.”
Ricardo searched battle journals.
Ramiro disappeared into the Rivera family archives.
Antonio sat cross-legged on the floor with Navi and Navito.
Books surrounded the three of them.
Antonio held up another dusty journal.
“This one is definitely about goats.”
Navito leaned over.
“No.”
Antonio looked hopeful.
“No?”
“It’s sheep.”
Antonio dropped the book dramatically.
“I am carrying this investigation.”
Navi laughed.
“No, you’re carrying livestock.”
Even I couldn’t stop myself from smiling.
For one precious moment…
The room felt like family again.
Then Doña Isolde froze.
“I found something.”
Every head lifted.
She carefully unfolded a brittle page hidden inside an old leather journal.
“The Luna from Silver Moon…”
Her voice became almost reverent.
“…recorded seven prophetic dreams.”
Carlos frowned.
“The Council only teaches six verses.”
“I know.”
She ran a finger over faded ink.
“Listen.”
She read aloud.
‘The seventh dream shall remain sealed until awakened by the blood it was written for. Let the Council guard six. The seventh belongs to destiny.’
The room fell silent.
“What does that mean?” Anna whispered.
Before anyone could answer—
The bedroom door flew open.
Enzo rushed inside.
Mateo was only a step behind him.
Both boys were breathing hard.
“Ama!”
Aaliyah stood immediately.
“What happened?”
Enzo looked around the room.
His confidence vanished.
“We… we weren’t listening.”
Mateo nodded quickly.
“We swear.”
“We were walking past the kitchens.”
“The maids were talking.”
Maria slowly stood.
“What were they saying?”
The brothers exchanged a nervous glance.
Finally Enzo answered.
“One of the guards assigned to the West Wing…”
My stomach dropped.
“…has been telling people he heard something outside Aaliyah’s room.”
The room became perfectly still.
Mateo swallowed.
“He didn’t hear everything.”
“But…”
“He keeps repeating the same sentence.”
His eyes drifted toward Anna.
“They said he told the maids…”
‘I heard someone scream she was pregnant… pregnant to the hybrid.’
Silence.
The kind before a storm.
Anna’s face went white.
Antonio stopped smiling.
Navi and Navito were already on their feet.
Carlos slowly turned toward me.
He didn’t have to say a word.
We both understood.
The Council of Alphas would arrive in three days.
The prophecy had awakened.
Our daughter carried the child at the center of it.
And now…
The rumor had escaped the walls of our home.
I slowly closed the ancient journal.
The sound echoed through the room.
Every eye turned toward me.
I looked at my family.
Then I looked at the future of DeL Sol.
When I finally spoke, my voice was steady.
“La Diabla” had returned.
“Find the guard.”
Nobody questioned the order.
Nobody hesitated.
Because if one guard had heard the rumor…
Tomorrow, the pack would hear it.
And if the pack heard it…
The Council would not be far behind.
