Maria's POV Sun shone through the thick clouds through my window, I was still in bed hoping a get a good job today, I have been called by the Ares Enterprises for an Interview, and I will be going there by 8am. Looking down to my bedside I could see the clock ticking and it was already 6:30am. I stood up from bed dashing into the bathroom I took my bath and came back to the closet where I got some clothes, that looks professional and appropriate for the job. I came to the kitchen and got something I could eat since I will be going to four different interviews today. When I was done eating I took my jacket and beaded for the parking lot. I couldn't take my bike so I won't look like a gangstar in front of my interviewers. I took my small Toyota Corolla car and headed off as I made my way through the crowded pavements of Redwalkers. The city was large but the population continued to overgrow. I could perceive the morning scent of coffee, people going to their daily activities and lastly wolves migling among humans, when I came down from my car, I checked my wrist watch and it was a perfect time for my first interview of the day. Stepping inside the 5 storey building, I could see that everyone was busy with their activities for the day, so I walked to a lady whom I presumed was the receptionist. She was a pretty lady who had dark eyes and hair, her skin lips was enough to send chills on one's body. "Excuse me I'm Maria Smith and I'm here for the interview with Mr. Ares for the position of the Sales manager," I said to the receptionist. She nodded give me a signal with her hands, she then smiled and took her phone which was on the table and her and She nodded her head and picked up the phone resting beside her. A few words uttered out of her mouth and then she closed the call. "Mr. Ares is in his office. It's on the last floor to the left," she responded with a cranky smile on her face. I nodded my head and stepped inside the glass elevator that took me to the fourth floor. The building wasn't large but I'm wasn't complaining. I was thankful for landing on a good interview after getting fired from my previous job. I was fired because I had a little misunderstanding with my boss, he tried to lay false accusations against me since I wasn't a native of Minnesota. Even though I wasn't at fault, everyone believed him due to thefear of been fired or given a suspension. Anyway i didn't regret losing the job since it wasn't a well paid job, I was getting a lesser salary compared to that of my colleagues. As I stepped outside the elevator, I noticed something, a thick scent of a wolf — it reminded me of the wolves I came across last night. Flashes appeared in front of me as I moved around the small place. There couldn't be a wolf here. This area of the city belonged to humans—it wasn't his territory. "Ms. Maria was expecting you," A man's voice made its way to my ears. I turned around and faced a handsome man with bold features. A wolf. My natural instincts screamed to run out of this place at once but I required this job. It was my only last hope for survival. My bills were due and I needed to land on a job immediately. I bit back my scream as the man stood tall in front of me. He was a wolf, a wolf who had chased me last night. I could smell him but he couldn't smell me as I had control over my scent. No one could. Get a hold, Maria, I reminded myself before pushing my hand towards him "Mr. Ares, it's nice to meet you finally," I said with a sharp smile "Oh, please, call me Steve." He shook my hand with great pressure. A strange feeling trickled down my spin and I shuddered. There was a strong aura surrounded around this man. He clearly wasn't the Alpha I was running away from. "Come in, please. I was quite impressed by your resume, you have got quite a bundle of skills!" Mr Ares exclaimed as he walked inside the office. The warmth of his hand on mine still lingered after he parted it away. It didn't feel the usual—maybe it was because I had never touched another wolf. He sat on his leather chair and smiled at me warmly. "So, tell me a little more about yourself?" My CV and resume were placed in front of him yet he wanted to know more about me. "There is nothing much, everything is stated in my resume and CV." I snapped back. My confidence disappeared as soon as I came into terms that he was a werewolf. Just last night, the man sitting in front of me was chasing me down with his brothers. The thought of it made me quiver. "Where do you come from, Ms. Maria?" Of course. My resume only stated jobs I had done over the past four years. There was no information about me before that. It was four years ago when I moved Ampleforth to start a new life as a lone-wolf. I despised my pack, my parents and my alpha — they were absolutely deeming and disgusting in every sort of way. "I used to live with my parents a few years ago," "And where was that?" His smoothly trimmed eyebrow raised at me with suspicion. God no. Mr. Ares was a well-known businessman here in Ampleforth but it was my first time meeting him. "Just nearby…" "Alright. It's okay if you don't want to give details but I may inform you that we are required to do a background check before employing anyone in the company. If you're comfortable with that, we can continue and I can give you the offer letter." He explained. "Of course, I don't have any problem!" My background was clear as the ocean. Not once I had landed in prison.6 Mr. Ares presented me with the offer letter stating the terms for this job. It was a marketing position with quite an impressive pay. After going through the details, I signed the letter and handed it back to him. It stated that I had to start from tomorrow but Mr. Ares seemed to have a different date "I won't be here tomorrow so we can start from next Monday," Tonight was the blood moon and male wolves were known to hunt down females and claim them as their mates. I preferred staying indoors for the rest of the weekend. "No problem!" I got up and placed my bag over my shoulder "I'm looking forward to seeing you on Monday then, Ms. Maria." "You too," I walked out of the building then and there. I was still uncomfortable with the idea of working with a werewolf — a specific one who had tried to hunt me a couple of times but it was just for a few months. As soon as my rent and bills were covered, I would leave and look for something else Mr. Ares wasn't the problem here, it was his Alpha that I was running away from — Kayden — the vicious man with stupendous powers. The Alpha never came out for hunting me down, he only sent his men, his warriors. They all wanted my head as they found me dangerous. It was illegal to rest on another territory and it made sense that the Alpha wanted me dead. After leaving the office, I was tired and famished I had to go get something to eat, so I went to where I parked my Bike and drove off.
