My Night Out

Meagan POV ........... Another week passed by, and I still haven't told Oscar about my what's been bothering me. I had meant to tell him last week but I didn't. And this hesitation has been going on for a month now. So I decided to corner myself by hinting Oscar about it. I sent Oscar a text telling him that we have to talk, I made sure to give him a clue about it to avoid changing the topic, just in case I catch cold feet. I get back to work after sending the text. I was retouching photos of Medley's maternity shoot. She had gained a lot of weight, she looks chubby like a baby. Looking at Medley's pics reminds me of Kimberly they look alike a lot. After a few hours I was done retouching Medley's photos. It is now 3 pm almost 4, and I was home tired. Been starring at a screen for hours, and I haven't left my apartment since morning. I really need to catch some air. I feel like my creativity is suffocating the more I stay indoors. I don't know where to go though, there is really nothing calling me outside. But I need to go outside I've been cooked up long enough in the house. I thought of going on a dinner somewhere loud and chilled place, a place that can cheer me up for a while. I started preparing myself while thinking about a place that fits my mood. After an hour I was ready to start off, I was planning to call Kae or Oscar we link up. But I changed my mind, its my night out alone to freshen up. Shortly I left home going to the King's Club hotel. By the time I got there it was around 7 pm. The sun had already set about an hour ago, I had missed that beautiful moment of nature. As soon as I stepped out of the cub I was welcomed by a cool breeze of the young night, it perfectly complimented the night, making me appreciate it as I admire the stars. "Good evening madam, how are you doing?" The cute lady at the reception welcomed me with a beautiful smile. "Am good thanks, how are you?" I replied. "Am good, how may I help you madam?" She asked. "Dinner at the Lion's lounge." I stated my agenda. "Dinner at Lion's lounge, what's for the night he is going to pop the question." the lady's reply took me by surprise. "Pssh, Am just treating myself to a dinner, its nothing romantic." I replied and started asking myself questions. "Is it showing on my face that I want an engagement so badly." I think to myself. "Oh, you're already engaged, I didn't notice. Congratulations." The lady said when she saw the ring Kate gave me. I took my pass to the lion's lounge. I used a different path to the lounge. The lady at the reception had instructed me to use another path saying there is an organization that is having a meeting in the hall, and for confidentiality sake they requested no unauthorized movement in the hall way. A few rooms away from the lounge, I heard a man talking on the phone. He voice felt familiar though am not sure who it is. After a few steps he turned facing my way and I saw his face. "Holy craps, its him, Its Jeff." My heart races as soon as my mind confirmed it is Jeff. Hope he won't recognize me, my heart kept on praying. I let out a sigh as I got at the lounge. I place my order and went to sit at the corner where am barely noticeable. And I can see everyone in the space, from this view. My order took some time to come so I made myself busy with my phone. I even removed Mike from mute out of bored. The meal got ready about 15 minutes from when I placed my order. A breeze brushed through my hair, making me feel cinematic. I take a sip as I feel the moment. This is the life that Alicia used to talk about in high school. Even though am in a louge not a yacht, the feeling is still amazing regardless. Oscar pops up in my mind, when I thought of the high school days. Missing those days pushed me into calling him. We really need to talk out our issues like Joel said. "I miss my Oscar, I miss the guy thief that used to steal my heart a thousand times without his ways growing old on me." My heart said as Oscar's phone was still ringing. "Hey baeb, how are you doing?" Oscar replied sounding fatigued. "Am fine hun, how are you? You sound exhausted" I replied. "Yea..., I had a busy day. Lately I've been so busy working on the game. Its been like a week now since the investors turned down my proposal. And now all work the is overwhelming." Oscar replied sounding sleepy. "Oh I see. You should also get some rest baeb don't kill yourself with work." I replied, thinking of how this dinner would have been with Oscar. He has been working very hardly, he deserves to get a day off to rest and have some chills like am doing. "And I had saw your text when I was talking on the phone, then I had forgot to reply when the call ended. You wanted to tell me something?" Oscar's reply reminds me of the text I sent. "Yes, I wanted us to talk about something that has been happening, but not today baeb, you need to get some rest" I replied looking at the moon's crescent. It is getting lately, let me go sleep I have a busy day tomorrow. I get back into the lounge going to my table in the corner and the place looked different. The lounge was full of guys in black suits like they are shoot an action movie or some. I go to the counter to pay for my meal. The waiter tells me it has been paid for by the man seated in the other corner that's just straight from where I sat. "Who is he?" I asked the waiter. "He is the leader of these men in suits. They always do this when they seal a deal in their favour. They pay for everyone in the lounge before they start drinking and celebrating." The waiter's reply made me curious. Who is this guy? Thoughts started running in my mind. I decided to go greet him and say thanks. I make my way through the guys who were tipsy near his table. Getting close enough to see who he is, I smile in realization. It is Jeff Kauten. "hey, Jeff" I greeted him, getting the attention of the whole table. Everyone looking at me like I've disrespected him. One of his guys tried to reply for him, but he restrained him. "Derek, don't be rude with beautiful ladies it attracts bad luck. Let the lady introduce herself" Jeff said pointing Derek and with his cup of wine. He reply confirmed it he had forgot about me. It made me nervous, especially the look from his guys. "Am Meagan, I just wanted to say thanks for paying for my meal." I replied, regretting coming here. I make a turn to leave, then Jeff called me. "Hey Meagan." When he called I felt like he has remembered me. "Where are you rushing to?" Jeff asked as I was turn back to him. "Home"I replied plainly. "For the sake of knowing my name, and showing your gratitude, I would to take you home" Jeff said getting up ready to go. "That won't be necessary, there is a car waiting for me outside." I lie avoid going home with Jeff, I remember what happened last time he took me home, and am not down for those kind of nights this time. "I insist." Jeff said escorting me out the lounge. My heart races as my mind keep asking me what he is up to. "Seriously, Jeff you don't need to do this." I reply thinking of how I'll get him off my back, "what would Kate do in such a situation?" I ask myself trying to cook up something. "Its my pleasure baby girl, I feel like I have to do this. Besides being cute you have a familiar energy, I don't to remember where I met you buh I am sure this not the first." Jeff said like he is trying to figure out something. Part of me feels good that he is starting to remember me, I wanted to remind him. But I controlled myself, it is not necessary to remind him of that night. It will only make things awkward for me. "Yea, your face looks familiar as well. The world is smaller than we know." I reply after been quit for a while, hoping my reply won't make him ask more questions. "Yea that's true..." Jeff replied ironically. "Oh the meeting is over" I said out loud a thought trying to change the topic after noticing the conference hall empty and people loudly passing along its hallway. "Oh yea, we were finalizing a couple of deals that will highly influence the marketing standard of Livingstone. That was the celebration in the lounge." Jeff replied looking at the hall like they got some history he don't wanna talk about. "Oh that's cool. I hope the deals were signed in the over all Livingstone businesses." I replied thinking of my Oscar and the investors that turned him down. As we get to the reception, I seriously start thinking of how to shake him off my back. It will be harder to turn down his lift when we get outside and there is no car waiting for me. We pass by the reception and the lady that checked me in waves at me with a smile like she is congratulating me. My lunar Meagan character finally kicked in out of frustration, to tell Jeff to leave me alone. As we get out the hotel, there's no car waiting for me, and Jeff is insisting on his lift. "Listen, Jeff I appreciate your good gestue of insisting to take me home but am engaged. You have already don't even for me paying for my meal is enough. I didn't come here expecting you'll bring me home, I have my ways of going home. Am not dumb I still remember what happened last time..." My lunar character poured out her heart a little bit over, am not yet engaged but Jeff doesn't know the truth. She also gave Jeff a hint of how it went down last we met. I hope he didn't get that part. I quickly rush out of Jeff's presence to avoid his charisma from calling me back. I quickly run through the parking lot to the road to get on a cab. Looking at the hotel entrance where I left he, he is still standing there looking at me. "Where are you going? Ma'am?" The taxi driver asked me. "Elaine Brittel, near Hillcrest School." I absent mindedly replied the driver. "What happened, a break up?" The driver asked after a while of silence. "Not really, and I don't really want to talk about it" I replied pulling out my phone to call Kae. ........
