Destiny’s POV
The next morning as we both got up to get dressed, I was a nervous wreck because today was the day or at least tonight was the night that I would either shift or die. I wasn't even sure if I wanted to go to work. Or if I would just lay around the house and feel depressed. I was scared. I decided to call my parents who I hadn't spoken to in a while. I was raised in foster care but they were still like my parents; I called and talked to them for about a half an hour just letting him know how I was doing and asking about their own life. Next, I called my Foster Brothers and did the same thing they probably thought I was being weird but for some reason I wanted to touch base one last time I didn't even know what it was like to be a werewolf. Would I even remember my past life. Would I be the person that I thought that I could be. I decided to ask Grace these things. She told me I would be the same person that I would remember my past life but it would be a blur she told me the first few days after the change would be very strange I would be volatile and easy to shift so I would need to take time off of work I called in and took a vacation of seven days so that I could get acclimated to being a werewolf or to help them get rid of the body without too much interference from the police Grace decided to stay home with me she could see that I was upset and that she didn't want me to be alone besides there was a full moon waxing which meant that it was in the daylight sky so I could literally change at any moment I was so scared I was shaking I could feel an itchiness over my whole body I asked Grace about this and she said it was part of the change that it was beginning but that it could take up to 12 hours kind of like having your first baby it could go quickly or slowly the itchiness was the hair trying to come through the skin it was driving me insane I wanted the claw at myself so Grace went to the store to get some Benadryl cream to help me with the itchiness this went on for several hours. They called in the council and Alpha Roman said that he would be there soon they were all coming to watch me die I assumed. I didn't like it, but I couldn't do anything about it; I had such negative feelings about it. they talked me into going to Roman Securities to a top floor meeting room so that I would have full view of the moon while I changed and everyone in the building was a shifter so there was less chance of a ‘shock’ event happening. the first time my bone popped I screamed in pain but it popped back into place almost immediately the itching was in incessant Grace tried to keep my mind off of the change by playing cards with me every time I start to itch she would tell me a joke. Adrian made a joke “it’s almost like being in labor, pain itch cramp calm” she laughed nervously. Right now, her symptoms were about one-half hour apart. Adrian ordered pizza but she couldn’t eat. And it was already two o’clock.
the other men began telling me about what it was like to be a werewolf. There were three elders in from the council; there was Elder Jim who was the Llama Elder Sam who was a wolf and Elder Michael who was a fox along with them was Adrian, Cameron who was the beta wolf, Roman who was the alpha wolf and Richard, who was the gamma wolf all three were there with me they said it was very very rare to have a bit wolf in a pack because it was illegal to bite humans and that biting other Supernatural’s didn't work so they were all interested in what I would going to look like another bone cracked the second bone cracked then they went back into place I screamed in pain and fear it was a terrible thing the pain was incongruent and I wasn't sure I could handle it by now it was five in the afternoon and I was in so much pain the alpha has decided to help me he said “so let’s give you some werewolf 101 while we wait. Werewolves worship the moon goddess Selene. We can be born or bitten, born werewolves are normal humans until about thirteen when they meet their wolf, sixteen when they shift the first time and eighteen when they can find their mate. Bitten wolves on the other hand turn on the first full moon after their bite no matter the age. It is far more dangerous to be bitten than to be born. Only about 40% of humans survive the first change. At this Destiny starts to cry while Adrian comforts her. There is no way out, once bitten you WILL TURN. You were brought to this office to be in full sight of the moon. This is to aide you in turning and hopefully help you do so successfully. Werewolves live in a pack with a hierarchy. I am the alpha or leader Cameron is my beta or second in command and Richard is the Gamma or third in command. Once you turn you will be part of the pack and will answer to us. You will keep your job and can keep your life or come to live on pack lands. The main rule is that you can never tell anyone not even your family. We hold our lives to a high standard of secrecy and the penalty for exposure is death. Grace here has volunteered to be your mentor. If you survive the night, she will help you acclimate to your new lifestyle and to control your shifts. This should also help you to bond with your wolf and will give you a comrade and confidant so to speak. Do you have any questions?”
After ten hours of “labor” shifting the alpha ordered me to change with an alpha order; which apparently makes you do it. All of a sudden all of my bones popped at once and I was a large white wolf with black tipped ears I started talking to my wolf her name was Diamond and she said that we were a lunar wolf and that lunar wolves were very special and very rare and that we carried all the gifts possible to a werewolf but that it was very important that I not tell anyone this otherwise they would try to kidnap me and sell me Or try to use me for their own purposes so I didn't tell. Roman asked me what kind of wolf I had I told him I had a white wolf which is also special, and he asked me what gifts I carried and I told him that I could read minds and I could find mates for people they had never heard of this gift and he said he would report them to the council. I asked him not to and he said it was required that all wolves report their gifts in case if they needed to be used to help someone else. It sounded fair and I didn't understand why Diamond didn't want me to tell but I trusted her as she was my other half. They continued to ask me questions but I asked them to have a couple of days to get to know my wolf myself and then I would answer their questions so they all left me alone I talked to Diamond all day we got to know each other very well she was a very large wolf, as large as an alpha and beautiful in color she was solid white with just a black line around each ear and on the tip of her tail I stayed in Wolf for most of the day as it was something to get used to eventually though I got tired and hungry and I needed to change back. The change back was not nearly as painful as the change into although Diamond told me it would never hurt like that again I was a werewolf… I was a werewolf how strange is that. After changing back to my human form and made myself some dinner and I was starving I ate all of the leftover spaghetti from the night before plus I made myself another dish of spaghetti and ate all of that as well. I called Grace and told her about it and she just laughed and told me that it was a thing for werewolves to eat a lot that our metabolisms needed lots of calories because two creatures in of one body she also told me I did not have to speak out loud to talk to Diamond that all I had to do was think and Diamond would speak into my head.
My weeks’ vacation flew by, and I was ready to go back to work on Monday I was excited to use some of the gifts that diamond had brought to me I went back into work and picked up a cold case File. The one that that was about the little girl the 3-year-old I asked Diamond if she knew where she was and she did she told me I told Adrian I had gotten anonymous tip and we drove to the address we took the cadaver dogs but I didn't need a cadaver dog I had diamond and we could smell worth it a little girl was buried underneath the rose bush I began digging and they brought the cadaver dog over and he confirmed that there was a body I begin to dig and dig and I finally dug up a plastic bag and I found the little girl she was so tiny I cried as we got her out of the ground the cadaver dog set the bark that there was more bodies we found six little girls that day the couple that lived in the house had only lived there a year ago so we knew that it wasn't them because the bodies were too old we had to look up who owned the house before that or who rented it so the case became an open case again and I got the credit which it wasn't important to get the credit it was important to find the girl but I still felt good about it we finally found the perpetrator he was living in another County and we found two more bodies in that yard the other officers wanted to go out and celebrate that the case was closed but I just couldn't bring myself to celebrate the death of a little girl I went home and had a glass of wine I know they told me that wine wouldn't help that I wouldn't be able to get drunk but it was still just a habit a habit that would help me calm down I watched a little Netflix and went to bed to have a sleepless night.
