Chapter 15
Destiny’s POV
The next day I was working on cold cases when an active kidnapping came in. a gas station attendant had found the driver’s license of a young girl in South Carolina. When he checked the security footage, he saw a broken tail light with a hand sticking out throwing the driver’s license to the ground. He called the police who transferred to the FBI as the case went out of state. The FBI consulted me to help with the recovery. I told them the girl was still alive, still in the trunk of the car, travelling down interstate forty in Georgia. I caught the first plane out and was there in an hour and a half. The car had been spotted by several Georgia state troopers who were following. The perpetrator was surrounded but had a gun pointed at the trunk to shoot the girl. I teleported into the trunk and back behind police lines with the victim. The police then dispatched the victim. Turns out he was obsessed with her and wanted to marry her. She was grateful to have been saved, but was confused at how she got out of the trunk. I filed my reports and flew back to my precinct. There was only two hours left in my day so I completed reports that were overdue. Adrian didn’t go with me today as it wasn’t necessary.
On the way home he told me about his day and that he had gotten a lot of reports completed. I got home before Damien and told Adrian to go home as I no longer needed a guard. I picked up the twins from daycare and played with them for an hour or so until Damien got home. He walked over and held me tight. He said he had a rough day.
Damien’s POV
Damien started out running patrols when he came across rogue tracks and linked the information to the authorities before following them onto pack territory. He followed them for an hour before he happened upon a family of rogues. They were weak and hungry. He offered them his lunch which the scarfed down then escorted them off pack lands as they had no interest in joining a pack. It was very sad. He went back after lunch to check on them and they had already been killed by a group of menacing rogues. He felt terrible. The youngest survived and was in the pack hospital but she would be an orphan omega. Not a status to wish on anyone. He hugged Destiny tightly for a long moment.
After dinner, the babies fed and put to bed, Damien climbed into bed and held Destiny all night snuggling her close after his sad day at work.
Destiny’s POV
The next day at work I came across a file where the victim had died but the perpetrator was never found. A fourteen year old girl walking home from school took the wooded path home because it was quicker. She was followed and assaulted by the perpetrator just yards from her house. Stabbed thirty times, she did not die till the following day. This happened twenty years ago. It was sad but the perpetrator was her uncle. We picked him up and brought him in. I told him things about the case I couldn’t know without the evidence (I had none) then I told him if he confessed it would go easier than if we went to court with a mountain of evidence (which we didn’t have)…he confessed on the spot. Wrote out and signed his own statement and was on his way to jail when his brother, the girls father, shot and killed him for what he had done. The report on this case was more complicated as the suspect was killed in our custody. The father gave himself over without a fight. All in all it was a long morning.
That afternoon was just as busy. I was finishing up the report from this morning when all the girls came by to get me to take the afternoon off. We went to have pedicures and manicures and to buy a new outfit for the spring dance coming up this Saturday. I suddenly realized how in just a few short months my life went from one of emptiness and loneliness to a family friends and community. I have never been happier and would forever be with the man I love. I had my children and my home. The End.
