CHAPTER 9

DESTINY’S POV

Norma, Rocky’s mate, and I went shopping in human town to get manicures and pedicures and maybe some clothes. We had been in the mall all morning looking at name brand jeans for casual Friday at work. It was started recently as an idea of the new Luna. We were about to leave the store when two arms snaked around me. I jumped and turned to find Damien’s face grinning down at me. “Hey darlin’” I said I missed you. We spent the rest of the day together and went home for a very romantic evening. Of course, Damien needed to inspect all my manicure, pedicure, and wax jobs intimately to see if he approved…he did.

The next morning, I was sore from him claiming me repeatedly. I stiffly walked to the shower and welcomed the hot water on my back. After about twenty minutes he climbed in with me and used the last of the hot water to claim me one more time before work. I rode in with Adrian as always, it was nice and peaceful with George out of the way. They say he had thrown his food twice because he was expected to eat with his hands. By the second day he was eating like a good boy. Anyway, I opened a cold case box that was filed with dead victim cases and spent the day digging up two sites. One to find a two year old baby killed by her mother, buried by her grandfather. It was sad all the way around. The second case was a fifteen year old hooker who had defied her pimp and was thrown in the dump. By the time the paperwork was completed on these two; Diamond and I were exhausted and ready to head home.

Damien and I showered together, and I slept in his tee shirt, and he slept in boxers. We made love three times. In the middle of the night, I got hot and kicked off the blankets. I was feverish and fidgety. Damien said my heat was coming in so both guards had to sleep outside as they were unmated, and we took the next three days off while Damien and I did things that can only be described as carnal to each other. Any other time I would be too embarrassed to mention much less do, but heat does things to a person. Things that can only be satisfied through rough carnal s*x. When it was over, I could hardly walk and I told him he was grounded from my body for years to come. He just laughed and said, “we’ll see.”

It was now the weekend, and the guards came back in the house. I couldn’t look them in the eye. I knew they knew about my heat. I started making a pasta dish and Damien came and wrapped his arms around me from behind sticking his nose in the crook of my neck. “I don’t know what I would do without you” he said.

“I just can’t figure out why they want me so badly” I stated. With that Adrian handed me a new upgraded phone. Its encrypted and can’t be traced. I thanked him and went back to cooking. We ate and finished up the kitchen dishes before going to bed. I had told Damien no s*x for the duration, but you place two naked bodies together and things happen. I woke up barely walking again. The hot shower did wonders for sore muscles though.

My next cold case file was the 1992 abduction r**e and murder of a young girl taken on Halloween. Her killer was never found. I finished my report before capturing the perpetrators as they were already incarcerated. She did not have one r****t/murderer but in fact had three. A lone lookout and two brothers. I finished my report and took it to the captain for processing. It did not take long as the body was already found. The second one took longer. An elderly couple went missing from a small town. Everyone felt that they were just lost but I knew. They had been abducted and killed. Their bodies burned in the car they had driven for thirty years and then pushed into the lake. It was so sad as they had died in each other’s arms after fifty years of marriage. Diamond identified their whereabouts for me as well as the perpetrators. They were two young drug dealers who had done a robbery gone wrong. When my report was finished, I cried as it was such a sad story. I finished my reports and went home for the day.

Damien’s POV

Ever since I met Destiny, I had been anxious about her. She was so nonchalant, but she had numerous kidnapping attempts and I was beyond worried for her. Yes her wolf was extraordinary, yes she was a master at martial arts, but she was my little wolf, my mate and I had grown so attached to her I was not sure what I would do without her. I was on perimeter duty today so I wouldn’t see her at the gate. I jogged along my section in human form when I spotted fresh tracks. I mind linked the situation and location and followed the tracks onto our territory. I came up behind ten rogues in their human form discussing the taking of Destiny. I lay down quietly and listened. They were going to lay low today and attack tonight when everyone was asleep. They knew our cottage number and where it was. They knew she could teleport but thought a silver net would stop her. I mind linked and wanted to keep two alive for questioning. The warriors were almost to me. When they had completely surrounded the rogues we showed ourselves. They were so surprised they didn’t even fight back. They just surrendered right there. They were all taken to the cells. Under questioning, the supposed leader stated they wanted Destiny to join their pack and were unaware she had already joined ours. They also said if she didn’t join their pack they would sell her to the highest bidder. When asked what pack they were from we were told Blood Moon pack. This was a declaration of war. Alpha Roman called the council to make a formal declaration of war. This would be devastating for the Blood Moon Pack. They were close to our size but did not have nearly the trained warriors. Then alpha Roman called all the warriors helping Blood Moon pack back to our pack lands. That got alpha Knox’s attention and he was on the phone in ten minutes pleading for our help again. However, alpha Roman would not be deterred as we were now at war with each other. Alpha Knox denied any knowledge of a rogue attempted kidnapping yet Destiny had already read their minds and he was the one who paid them. When destiny got home, we tried the silver net on her. Other than a few burns she teleported straight out of it like it was nothing. We next tried putting her into a cell with silver bars. She left immediately due to the odors and George screaming for her help. Adrian asked Diamond if anything could hold her and they were told no. but that wouldn’t stop the others from trying she said. Next someone put a knife to Damien’s throat and told her to surrender, she teleported to Damien held his hand and teleported away before they could even register what she had done.

Adrian’s POV

After all the experiments we were all duly impressed with Destiny’s teleportation skills. She still would not share all her skills as she said it would put her life in danger. It didn’t matter to me though as she was a genius in the precinct and a good friend in the pack. We once were lovers but that was way before she was even a wolf. I was happy she had Damien and hoped they had many years together. We all went back to our cottage and had pizza that Destiny made from scratch. It was delicious.

The next morning as we rode in to work together we had to stop for destiny to get sick. She blamed it on the pizza from the night before. She was also having some terrible cramps. So I took her back home. She took a hot bath and climbed into bed. I left her there as she was safe on pack lands.

Destiny POV

I woke up feeling much better. Cleaned the cottage, did laundry and prepared dinner for Damien who was back on first shift. I made steaks with baked potato and salad. When Damien got home, he was surprised to see me. “I’m glad your home.” He said, “the elders want to see you about your gifts.” Turning back to Destiny, he told her the council was our next meeting and they were coming because of her. She stood up and started pacing the room in nervousness.

“Can they take me?” she asked.

“No” I said, “but they will want to know and register your gifts which is bull sh*t. It puts you in danger in my opinion.” So, we need to decide which of your gifts we will tell them about.

“that’s easy,” she said, “I can’t hide teleportation.” Fifteen minutes later they were in alpha Roman’s office and a group of three older gentlemen entered the office. “I thought there were ten elders” she said.

“There are but for away meetings only the eldest three attend then we decide if it warrants an in-house meeting. Said the eldest gentleman. He had kind eyes and a gentle nature. He reminded her of Jerry in a way. I am elder Jim a llama shifter, this is elder Sam, a wolf shifter, and of course elder Michael a fox shifter. We heard that you were a very special young lady.” Said elder Jim. Would you mind telling us what kind of wolf you have.

“Diamond is a lunar wolf” Destiny stated.

“That is indeed a special wolf” said elder Jim they usually have at least two gifts can you tell me how many you have.

“I can teleport, and I seem to have the ability to find mates for others, a matchmaker of sorts” she said.

“Can you show us?” elder Jim stated. So, she disappeared from her desk and reappeared behind alpha Roman. “How far can you teleport?” he asked but she didn’t know. It would be interesting to find out.

Roman said “go home Destiny.” And she disappeared. His phone started ringing with an excited Destiny. I AM HOME!!! And with that she was back in the office. “That was thirty-three miles and counting” smirked alpha Roman. “Very cool.”

“Very cool indeed.” Stated elder Jim. Now to test the match making. My daughter is interested in finding her true mate can you help her?” Destiny agreed to try. Elder Jim called his daughter, and she would be there after lunch as she was a few hours away. They agreed to meet back after lunch and split up. Destiny practically ran downstairs to tell Adrian about the teleportation experience, but he was more worried about why the council was interested in her. They went to lunch out for the first time since she worked there. They had the Pizza Hut buffet and practically cleaned out the buffet before they were full and headed back to the office. Damien kissed her and warned her not to go anywhere with anyone. Then she headed back upstairs. Elder Jim introduced her to his daughter Penelope. Destiny took her hand and shook her head.

“She had a mate, but she rejected him because he wasn’t ranked.” Destiny stated flatly. The girl looked desperately around screaming that it wasn’t fair she wanted a second chance mate, so Destiny took her hand again and again shook her head. “You will not have a second chance mate; you need to take a chosen mate.” Elder Jim was very disappointed in his daughter and sent her away crying. Next Elder Sam had his son alpha Remington to come in. he was twenty-seven and had not found his mate. Destiny took his hand and her eyes got large and she said “WOAH”. They asked what was wrong and Destiny said “His mate is Lieu Wang of the Shenzhou province of China. She is the alpha’s daughter. She turns eighteen next Thursday and it is tradition there to take chosen mates so you need to hurry, or she will be mated off on Thursday. Remington ran out the door like a scalded rabbit.

Alpha Michael said I know you have proved yourself twice, but will you please check my daughter Selena, she is waiting outside, and we don’t want to see her lonely anymore. Destiny smiled and motioned for her to come in. She took her hand and looked at Alpha Michael.

“Are you opposed to interspecies mates?” she asked.

“Not if she is happy and he is good to her.” Destiny mind linked and then waited a few moments and there was a knock on the door.

“Come in,” said alpha Roman.”

I was summoned here?” said a shifter named Justice. He looked around the room and his eyes settled on Selene. She stared back and at the same time they said. “Mate”. He took her hand and immediately placed his nose in her neck sniffing her scent like he was starving for air. “Do you mind if we take our leave sirs” he asked the group and they both left smiling.

“Well, that was quite impressive,” elder Jim stated emphatically. “Do you have any other gifts that you know of.”

“None that I am aware of” she lied smoothly and sat down.

“Ok then we will be off to visit the rest of the council about this. As they walked out the door, she could sense ill intentions with elder Jim, but she just couldn’t put her finger on it.
