Honestly... Life's Hard

"I hope you like the room." Glow didn't say anything. She was shown her room in the three bedroom apartment that Hilda lived in. In all her jitteriness, Hilda had told her that anything she wanted would be provided. That was sweet of her, but Glow doubted that she would ever feel comfortable demanding things from her. She didn't want to be spoiled. Not like she'd know the feeling. Also, why ask when you know you could be less of a burden if you didn't? She wasn't interested in Hilda waking up one day to tell her how unappreciative she was acting. She'd give her a few days to get tired of her. People always got tired of her. "Are you hungry?" Hilda asked, looking at her from the door. "I could make something. I'm not really a good cook, but you wouldn't hate whatever I make, I'm sure." "Okay." Glow wasn't sure if she was going to eat much though. She just wanted her cousin out of her hair. Hilda's face brightened. "Great! Let me get to work then." Glow watched as she left the room, closing the door behind her. Her excitement was so weird, and endearing. She was the kind of person to get happy over the littlest things. That was something she'd always wished to have. Happiness. Guess you can't have everything you wish for though. Glow sat on the bed, looking at her bags and wondering whether she should start arranging them or leave them till later. Or never, really. She didn't know when Hilda would wake up one day and tell her that she didn't want her anymore. That always happened. She laid down on the comfortable bed, not bothering to change what she had on or anything and closed her eyes, facing the ceiling. She was definitely going to sleep again. Glow woke up hungry. Well, seeing as she woke up after about six hours of sleep, it wasn't surprising. Even though she'd slept a lot while in the hospital. She walked out of the room to look for her cousin. She really didn't have to look long because she saw her laying on the floor. The first thing that she felt was panic, then worry, then the need to confirm whether she was still alive. "Hilda?" She called, shaking her shoulders. "Are you alright?" She jerked back as Hilda jilted awake abruptly. "Oh... I... " Glow stood, silent at the confused expression on her face. She was unsure whether to be relieved or amused. The other woman seemed very dishevelled when she didn't even need to be. "Sorry, sorry, sorry. I fell asleep," Hilda apologized. "Are you hungry? You want to eat now, right?" She asked, looking embarrassed as she stumbled to her feet. Glow nodded. "But you don't really need to–" Hilda walked past her. "Don't worry, everything's ready. I just thought it'd be good if I took a nap. I didn't think I'd end up on the floor though." There was a knock on the door all of a sudden. They both paused. They both looked at the door and exchanged glances. From Hilda's face, she wasn't expecting anyone. "Who's there?" Hilda called after the knocking wouldn't stop. "Nduka," a familiar voice answered. Hilda beamed. "Oh. I'm coming." Glow sat down on the chair nearby as her cousin opened the door for the man she disliked. Him again. It seemed he wanted to spend his time tormenting her because what the f**k was he doing here?! "There's a doorbell, you know," Hilda said as the man who was dressed in all white walked in. "You scared us a bit." "I'm sorry," Nduka said sheepishly. "I won't do it next time." So he was even planning on coming another time?! He noticed Glow and smiled at her, teeth out. "Hi." Glow glared. "Why did you bring a box?" Hilda asked, closing the door behind them. "I made something for Glow, but it's too hot and much, so I put it in here," he responded. "Cookies and smoothies, my specialty." "Oh, ND! That's so nice of you!" ND? She really forgot that they were friends. Glow silently watched them interact and couldn't help but wonder if they were in a relationship or something. Her cousin said they were friends, but normal friends she's seen don't hold each other the way they were doing in front of her. "I'm going to my room," Glow asked, hungry and sick of hearing them talking at the same time. When they were done, she'd come back to eat. "I'll bring your food to your room," Hilda called. Almost in her room, she heard Hilda's words to Nduka, which annoyed her. "She's not very happy, and I think you know why. Don't worry, she'll definitely warm up to you soon." "That's highly unlikely," Glow muttered as she closed the door. Seeing Nduka was ruining her already not-so-good mood. She knew that in a way, he was just doing his best and she should be appreciative of the fact that he kind of risked his life to save hers, but she didn't ask him to do any of that. He just made her life much more harder.
