Rey POV
Alpha Black's reputation is known amongst the werewolf world; most wolves denounce his way of life. We respect the concept of mates, whether it's chosen or true. Being a mateless alpha by choice is rare. His reason is childish at best; he wants to have as many women as possible. Besides his whorish ways, he also has a legacy filled with violence and c*****e. He grew his enormous pack by challenging smaller pack alphas; even though he could have simply defeated them, he took joy in murdering them in front of their pack. The act created a pack full of wolves that followed him out of fear instead of devotion and respect.
I walk into my office to find Alpha Black standing with his beta and gamma behind him. The trio bow as I walk in. Regardless of Black being an Alpha, he knows I’m his superior and acts accordingly. I walk past him to my chair, taking a seat as Galen and Liam follow closely. Galen stands behind me to my right as Liam stands near the door, a tactic we have always used to have eyes all over the room in case a wolf gets sneaky.
“Black, what do you want at this hour” I cut to the chase, purposely dropping his Alpha title. It’s rude, but I want it to be clear that I don’t appreciate the unannounced visit.
Alpha Black clears his throat, “May I sit, Alpha Gold?”
In response, I move my hand to point at the wooden chair next to him. He straightens his jacket and sits; he nods his head at his beta and gamma, who sit on the couch to the right of us—Galen shifts in discomfort at their movement, his anxiety trembling through his aura. I take note that there must be some history between the two that I’m unaware of.
“I don't have all night, Black.”
“Yes, well, Alpha, I come bearing unexpected news. I was forced to overtake Alpha Berics Pack, The White Moon pack, a week ago. I found my mate, and he refused to let me take her, a grave offense!” the alpha snarls out the last words.
I stare at him blankly in response…Alpha Black clears his throat again.
“There were some…deaths of pack members, warriors, and such. As required, I am reporting it in person to you.” He stammers.
I scan over him and realize he has a series of bruises on him, an ear missing, and his breathing is labored as if he is still in pain. I peer at his warriors and realize they also look beaten and injured.
“Seems like they gave you a run for your money,” I chuckle. “Okay, you’re over a week late with the notification; why?”
His beta interjects, “We were away for scheduled business Rey.”
I snap my head to the beta and flare out my alpha aura angrily at him, forcing him to submit instantly. I stand and stomp towards him on the couch, my aura stretching everywhere in the room. The beta stares at me in fear as his neck stretches at an inhumane angle.
I crouch down and turn my head to match his angle, staring into his eyes.
“Does it hurt to submit to my will, pup?” Even though my eyes have turned glowing green with anger, I whisper the words out.
“Yes, Alpha!” The beta blurts out as he squeezes the couch, attempting not to fall over from the power.
“OH, so you know who the Alpha is? I thought maybe you were confused by calling me by my name.” I peer at him up and down, watching him struggle. I lengthen one black claw on my forefinger and bring it to his throat. The beta’s eyes widen in terror, struggling to gain control that he has no way of getting.
I press my claw by the bottom of his ear, where his throat starts, drawing a spot of glistening blood. ”one move, and you’d cease to exist, beta. Know your place and never forget who is superior here.”
“Yes, Alpha,” he breathes out shakily.
I stand up and see all the wolves in the room are angling their necks to me; the sight causes my wolf to purr with satisfaction.
“You’re wolves are bold and stupid, Black. Get him out of my sight,” I snarl while walking back to my desk.
“Yes, Alpha. Fredo, leave NOW!” He bellows at this Beta in anger. The Beta gets up hastily and runs towards the door. Liam opens it casually with a blank face, allowing the wolf to leave.
“My apologies Alpha; I will ensure he is punished for his disrespect.” Alpha Black promises.
I dismiss him with a wave. “I have a feeling there is more to why you are here, SPEAK.”
Alpha Black nods. “It’s my mate, I believed her to be an orphan, but after finding her file in Alpha Berics office, I found she is related to someone in this pack.”
“Okay and?” I say, annoyed by how long this is taking. I have s**t to do.
“She is Beta Galen's sister. Her name is Kara. I believe they have the same father.” Alpha Black glares at Galen with an emotion I can’t quite understand.
I study Galen at the news; as far as I knew, he had no siblings. His mother came to our pack when he was two. And from what my mother had told me, neither ever mentioned his father or another family. Galen's face is red with anger as his eyes turn black, burning into Alpha Blacks.
“I’d like to bring her here until I’m able to introduce her into my…family,” Alpha Black announces
“Family? You mean, So I have a sister who is f****d causes she mated to you, and you want to still have your harem of w****s while having her!?” Galen roars angrily
“I love little kara, Galen. I just want her safe while I work to integrate her into my pack.” the alpha says smoothly.
“Bullshit, I know you and have seen what your supposed love means!” Galen retorts with a snort. Galen turns to me, “Alpha, how are we to know what he says is true? He's known for his deceptive ways!.”
Alpha Black leaps to his feet from his chair. “You dare call me a liar, Beta!?” He fumes.
Galen stands taller and bares his teeth at Alpha Black. “Make no mistake, Black, you may be an alpha, but you’re not my Alpha. I’m beta to the strongest Alpha in the realm, which makes me stronger than you. Challenge me and see!” He begins to walk around the desk to meet Alpha black when Rey holds his hand up to stop him.
“A challenge to my beta is a challenge to me. We know you don't want that Black.” I say cooly.
Alpha Black shoots his eyes at me with a look of fear; he sits down quickly and swallows loudly.
“No, Alpha, I would never challenge you.”
“Exactly,” I say matter of factly.
I examine the two wolves calmly and decide I’ve had enough of this meeting. “I’ll consider your request with proof that she is, in fact, his sister. I’m making no promises; this isn’t an orphanage.”
“Yes, Alpha. I appreciate your consideration. I will bring the file and a faerie to confirm lineage by the end of the week.” Alpha Black bows his head, stands, and nods at his gamma to leave with him before glaring at Galen. Liam opens the door for them to leave. I spin my chair around to Galen, looking at him as he glares at the door the men just escaped from.
“Did you know you had a sister?” I asked.
Galen's eyes snap back at me… “Of course not.”
I regarded him curiously “what of your father? Do you know who he is?”
“He’s dead. Murdered years ago when I was a pup after mom left him.” He reveals. I never knew this information.
“Anything else I should know?” I asked
“Uhm, Alpha Black is a complete d**k?” Galen states sarcastically, going back to his usual self.
I snorted and shook my head. “Okay, let's find out more about this Kara and the pack she came from. I don’t want any surprises.”
“I don’t believe him, Alpha…He must want something,” Galen retorts.
“Nevertheless, I want to know if there is any validity to it…What’s your deal with him anyway?”
“Nothing, he’s just a poor excuse of an Alpha.” Galen shrugs.
“I tried to listen in on him; his wolf is blocking me out. I think he’s hiding something, Rey.” Jax says worriedly.
I eye Galen again, who is looking into space as if he has a million thoughts going. “I’m sure he has his reasons; you know he’s always been sensitive about his family,” I said to Jax.
“I must try to salvage the rest of this night and work on some things. I’ll see you both in the morning.” I state, spinning my chair back to my computer, grabbing the list Galen gave me earlier. Liam and Galen leave without another word, shutting me into my office alone. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. I cross-referenced my list with Galens and found two fairies/witches who match up.
