Chapter 1 (Reader PoV, Felix focus)

"Well, well, well. What have we here? Oh, it's the retard! And look, it's on its way to the freak class to see the sped teacher!" Namjoon laughed, and his cronies followed. Felix cast his eyes down and sighed. 'And? At least my grades are better than yours, idiots.' Felix thought but didn't say. The last thing he needed was to make it worse. He really didn't want it to get physical; then his mom would be notified, and then he'd have to explain a weeklong suspension. He stopped at his locker put away his Language and Literature things and took out his Spanish textbook and notebook. On his way to the Spanish room, he saw a flyer. He paused to look, and couldn't stop the huge smile that spread across his face. K-Pop club. Dream come true. Finally, a K-Pop club that he didn't need to expel emotional energy leading! It's at 2:45, right after school. Perfect! He takes a quick picture and then hurries to Spanish. "Felix! Pay attention! This will be on the test!" He suppresses the urge to roll my eyes. He knows all this already. This is the hardest Spanish course his school offers to Sophomores, and it's so easy. He can't wait until he's a Junior, so he can take International Spanish. "Senora Han, what if I know all of the material already? Would you like to quiz me in front of the class?" he asked sassily. The teacher frowns. "All right. I'll test you on IS 2 material. Still want to?" he nods confidently and strides to the front of the room. In any other class, he'd be terrified. But Spanish is where he shines. "Okay, here we go." After the teacher had accepted that Felix's Spanish was probably better than hers, she let him do whatever he wanted. *Ring!* The bell for lunch rang, so he walked to one of the student lounge spaces to write and listen to music. He looked at the picture of the club ad to see the details. It's in Ms. Hwang's college math room because it's big with smaller desks. Every Tuesday. He smiled, today was Monday, and he'd go to his counselor to register right after school. He smiled as he relaxed and let his mind wander to fantasy. *ring!* Time for STEM. He hates STEM; it's so boring. He's great at it because he can just zone out and record the lecture in his brain, then brainlessly answer the questions. There's one upside to being retarded, he thinks to himself, putting away his laptop. I don't need to pay attention in class. -After School- Felix walks to the counselor, keeping an eye out for, well, everyone. He steps into the counselor and secretary room, and sees someone who he should hate, but just can't bring himself to. Bang Chan. He tries to make himself as small as possible. "H-hey, s-sun b-bae, nim," he whispers, bowing. Chan smiles and dips his head in response. Felix shrinks away, walking quickly into Ms. Ito's room. "Hi, Felix. How can I help you?" she asks, smiling warmly and clearing the table. "Ms. Ito, what do I have to do to join a club? Do I have to fill out a form or anything?" she pulls out a file folder and slides a paper to Felix. "Just fill this out and hand it to the leader of the club. Which club?" he takes the form and pulls a red pen out of his backpack. "K-pop club!" Ms. Its's smile faltered. "Oh honey, are you sure that's a good idea?" Felix frowns. "Why wouldn't it be?" She sighs. "Honey, the leader is Bang Chan," Felix drops his pen in shock. "W-what? He hates K-pop..." Ms. Ito shakes her head. "He doesn't, sweetie. He told me not to tell you this, but I think you ought to know. He likes you. Like, a lot. He's obliterating his social life to get your attention," Felix is still in shock. "I'll approve you joining but just...be careful, okay?" I nod and fill out the paper. "I will, don't worry!"
