The Woman Scorned

I am currently on the dirt road to the place where I thought I`d never be able to go back again. I rolled the windows down and I can see that the world is looking fine outside this metal box I`m in. The sun shines brightly and the weather is a bit cool. I know exactly where to find the person I`m looking for and I`m feeling dreadful already.

It has been days after the fateful day I signed the paper that would make me a single woman again and those three days had been pure hell for me. I just can`t believe that I left everything for him and in return, I was only going to be discarded like this?

My being can`t even seem to process the betrayal. All along I thought that what we had was genuine and it would last forever. Turns out, fairytales do really exist in the realm of delusion and in real life, it`s just not sugars and rainbows. It makes me throwback to the first day I met my now ex-husband.

Three years ago, my friend Angelique and I were only 23 and were fresh graduates that time. We both took up business courses since our families expect us to take over and handle our respective companies one-day.

She lives at her own condo wilst I stay with my grandfather in his huge manor during the weekends. I have to keep my disguise as an average girl so I have my own small apartment near the school.

I love living there but I miss my grandpa so I drive to his favorite place, the manor he and my grandma shared. My grandma also died young but my grandpa says I look like her. My mom looked like him but I look like my grandma, so I love that I somehow ease his sadness for a bit.

"Atharra Leos, get up," Agelique barges in and shouts like I`m not supossed to have any privacy in my room.

"Get up.We`re going to see a gameee!"

"For God`s sake Angelique, stop squealing. And it`s still like, 7 in the morning," I murmured beneath the blanket.

"Stop being so groggy and touchy, I know you`ll like what I`m about to tell you," she says with excitement.

I open my eyes and look at her doubtfully, "And that is ?"

"You remember the hot guy we saw last week at the bar? It turns out he`s a football player."

That immediately woke my senses up. "Of course I remember him, so how did you know?"

"We`ll Rocco recently got into their team and he showed me a picture of their team mates. I'm certain that it's him, look," she gave me her phone and we both looked at the men from the team.

Her boyfriend used to be the captain of the schools football team and it`s been his plan to play professional football after graduation. I can say that he`s good at playing and I know that there were offers from different teams but I`m not certain of the details.

"Oh my Gosh. That's him! That's definitely him," I looked at Angelique and the photo that`s in her phone.

"Annie, you know I appreciate you being there for me even through my b*llsh*t right," I said slightly smiling but I want to sound as sincere as I can. She knows that I can`t just enter relationships because of my background but that doesn`t stop her from encouraging me to flirt with men we find attractive.

"Oh please, it`s not rocket science that I`m almost like a mama bear to you. Now let`s not go there, it`s too early for drama," she says sassily.

I nod and smile again,"I`ll get ready. But after this you`re going to tell me everything." I looked at her pointedly.

She doesn`t know the extent of my gratitude for her. She`s put up with me since freshman years through highs and low. I admit that I`m not social butterfly but its just that it`s hard for me to maintain my friendship to a lot of people. It`s just i can`t connect with them about a lot of things which ends up to me being left out.

And that is not bad thing for me because I like to keep my circle small and the only one left beside me is Angelique. But that doesn`t mean that we`re simmilar. Nope, were actually polar opposites when it comes to our interests but when she wants to do her favorite things, I`m there for her and with her and it`s same about me.

I got ready as quickly as I can while Annie talks about her boyfriend, Rocco.

I just have to inform my grandpa about my agenda for today. I ring his phone and immediately, he answers. "Grandpa, since we won`t be going fishing today, is it fine with you if I watch a game with Angelique at the stadium?"

"Hm. You don`t have to worry about your old man. For all you know I may have been in a establishment to attend to my pleasure," he answered.

"Oh my God, you would never. I`ll fly to Japan to fetch you and talk some sense into you if you do," I replied. I honestly don`t know what came over to my old man to seek such services.

"What for? I`m talking about a sauna. Me and my companions are going to sauna, they say it`s quite pleasurable," I can hear the laughter in his voice.

"Now you`re teasing me. If you`ve wanted a new family, it` too late to start now," I grumbled. " Anyways, enjoy your trip."

"And enjoy the game, silly girl. You`re putting words into my mouth, you should be ashamed of your self to think so poorly of your old man. I`m wounded."

" Yeah, bye now." I immediately ended the call as I hear his faint chuckle in the background.

"So, what`s his name?" I asked Annie as we drive to the stadium.

"His name is Josh. Cool right?" she replies as she focuses her eyes on the road.

"Yeah. I think it suits him. But do you know if he`s single?"

"Rocco said that he`s still looking for the perfect girl. But I must say that he definitely gives my the vibes of a heartbreaker. Plus he`s quite vocal about not settling down anytime soon, so it`s safe to assume that flings are the only ones he entertains."

"I guess I`ll have to take a note about that. But that doesn`t make him less attractive," I looked at her and we both giggled like school girls.

We talked some more and after a few minutes, we can already see the stadium.

"We`re here. Don`t tell Rocco about our conversation awhile ago his jealous ass will not let it go," she half-jokingly said.

"Oh no. I`ll tell Rocco that you find their captain attractive as h*ll," I teased her.

She smiled,"Try that and I`ll tell your grandpa you went to a football game to see a man."

"I wasn`t serious. Let`s just...,"I trailed off.

The girl just cackled,"Hahaha, your face Tharra. You don`t even know how to pull a prank."
