Chapter 26 The dogs are all fine when we get back to the cabin. Bailey bounds out of the Jeep as it pulls up and starts barking, and suddenly, the whole pack bursts out of the woods, barking and whining and wagging with joy. Not a scratch on any of them. We shower, eat, drink, and smoke until my nerves settle, and then we make love until we both can sleep. When I wake up in the morning and go to look at myself in the mirror, I realize that my bruises are almost gone. It takes days of rest before I can really say I’m recovered from it all though.
