Georgie My eyes opened and began adjusting to the dim light wherever I was. I tried to lift my head but it was pounding. I blinked rapidly trying to figure out my location, but came up blank. Slowly, I inched my head upright just enough to look around me. I could see Mum leaned up against a wall beside me. Her eyes were closed but I could tell she had moved recently because there were marks on the dirty floor beside me. I took a minute to look around the dimly lit room. It was cold and damp. It smelt like a mixture of dirt, dust and wet earth. The walls were dark stone that looked as if they belonged in the dungeon of a castle.
