It had been almost twenty-four hours since I got home and still not a word from my Mum or Dad. I knew it was bad but the suspense was killing me even more. Dad's body language was enough to let me know he was furious, but what that meant for me was still unclear. I tried to talk to Mum a few times but she simply moved away or started a conversation with someone else. I have had enough. I couldn’t be ignored for this long. I felt physically sick about it. Nathan just glared at me every time we crossed paths.
At dinner, everyone was silent. Occasionally, someone would start a conversation but it would quickly fizzle as soon as I said something. I could tell that Benny was confused, so as soon as he got the opportunity, he was excused from the table and practically ran to his room.
