Chapter 2

Georgie The sun was beaming through my window as I groaned and rolled over on my bed. I picked up my phone from the bedside table and groaned. “7:00am!” I sighed and placed the phone back down. Mentally kicking myself for forgetting to close my blinds before going to sleep last night. Being up at 7:00am on a Sunday should be illegal. I could hear Benny moving around in his room nextdoor to mine already. I swear, he did things just to make me look bad. He was always the first up in the morning. Always the first to rock up at warrior training and always the most reliable. Since finding his mate, Rose has been living with us. I have to admit that I wasn't a huge fan of having a newly-mated couple living in the bedroom beside mine, but it hadn't been too bad. Turns out our walls are pretty well sound proof! Which I guess was good to know from both sides of the wall. I pulled my pillow over my face and took a deep breath. I was contemplating going back to sleep but knew that now that I could hear people moving around the house, I wouldn't be able to fall back to sleep. May as well get up! I muttered. How about a run? Skye suggests eagerly. Alright… I rolled my eyes. It had been a while since I had gone for a run with Skye. I was always stopped when letting Skye run by pack members wanting to chat. It was very hard to miss a blue wolf running around in the bush. I threw my blankets off of me and flipped the pillow onto the other side of the bed. I grunted as I sat up in the bed and rubbed my eyes sleepily. Run! Run! Run! Skye chanted annoyingly. Alright, alright... I sighed and pushed myself out of the bed. “You’re up early!” Said Mum when I walked down the hall and into the kitchen. “Forgot to close my blinds…” I explained and shrugged my shoulders. “Ah! Well, would you like some breakfast? I’m making Nathan a big breakfast for his game this afternoon.” Mum smiled. “Thanks, but I’m going to go for a run with Skye. I’ll be back later.” I nodded and walked out of the door. “Don’t go too far!” Mum called out as I walked through the back door. “Especially past the border!” She added when I closed the door behind me. “I know!” I yelled back, rolling my eyes. I walked through the backyard and to the gate in the far corner. I continued through the gate and stopped by the tree on the other side. I undressed, hung my clothes on one of the tree branches and gave Skye full control. My body began to pop and c***k as she began the transition to wolf form. Phasing used to be painful, but the more it is done, the easier it is for your body. Pretty soon I was seeing the world through Skye’s blue eyes. Feeling the wind flow through her fur as she effortlessly ran between the bushes and fallen trees. She ran happily for ages. Enjoying being able to straighten her legs and use up some energy. She stopped by a small lake for a drink when we heard a stick c***k behind us. Skye turned on her heel to find the source of the sound. Behind us, stood a large rich brown wolf. He stood tall, a lot taller than Skye. He c****d his head to the side and I knew he was surprised by the blue-coloured wolf in front of him. I could tell from his scent that he was not a Red Shadow Pack member. I assumed it was probably a player on the opposing football team that was going to play today. I was mesmerized by his almost black eyes. They were something I had never seen before. So dark and mysterious. I tried to will myself to look away from them but couldn't. I was entranced. I maintained eye contact with the wolf, pretending that it was by choice, attempting to show that I was not afraid or intimidated. Even though he was almost twice my size. What do we do? Skye asked. Just wait a minute before we head home. I suggested. Skye stood tall for a little while longer. She was about to turn and head home, but the other wolf nodded and walked back in the opposite direction. Skye took a deep breath before sprinting back. I walked into the kitchen to find Nathan, Benny and Dad eating breakfast at the dining table. “What are you doing up?” Dad asked, shocked. “Took Skye for a run.” I shrugged my shoulders. “Have a good time?” Dad smiled. “Yea.” I nodded, “Actually, is the opposing football team here already?” I asked curiously, wanting to identify who that other wolf was. They had me curious. “Ummm, I think they got here very early this morning.” Nathan answered. “Why?” Dad asked. Suddenly, I could hear some panic in his voice. “I just think I saw one of them while I was out for a run. I didn’t recognise the wolf.” I said while picking up a piece of toast from the plate in the middle of the table. “Did they say anything?” Dad pressed. I shook my head. Nathan and I looked at each other questioningly. Dad was acting weird. “Who are you playing today, Nathan?” Benny asked, trying to move the conversation on. “I think it’s the Great Wood Football Club.” Nathan replied, holding his piece of bacon in his fingers and taking a bite. “Nathan! Knife and fork please! I didn’t raise an animal!” Mum scolded. “Well, actually, you did.” I giggled. Mum rolled her eyes. “Smart arse.” She muttered under her breath with a smirk. I poked my tongue out at her. “So, what are you doing today, Georgie?” Mum asked me as I sat down beside Benny. “Going to look for a dress to wear to the Honorary Alpha Ball?” She added. “Definitely not that.” I muttered. “Georgie, this is a very important event. It only happens every ten years!” Dad lectured me. I had heard this same lecture many, many times before. “I know, I know.” I sighed and Nathan and Benny snuck away from the table and back to their rooms. “Maybe you will meet your mate!” Mum squealed with excitement. “You will be eighteen by next weekend…” Dad shrugged his shoulders. “I really don’t think that will happen, but I’ll be there regardless.” I muttered through gritted teeth. “You know how important it is to the pack for you to find your mate, Georgie.” Mum added. I nodded my head. “I know. I’m going to drop some things off at Sierra. I’ll be home later.” I excused myself from the table and walked straight into the bathroom to get ready. I fetched my phone out of my pocket to message Sierra. Me: Change of plans, I’ll be at yours in about half an hour. Sierra: Sweet! See you soon! "What a great way to start my Sunday." I mumbled as I closed the bathroom door behind me.
