Chapter 13: Xander’s POV

My mate. Hiding and running from me. FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS! Once she came back, I did spend time with her in Alpha Domink’s pack. After I took her, and she escaped, but I wouldn’t allow myself to say anything that would push her away further. Instead, I was mainly silent. I tried apologizing, but I wasn’t really sorry. I was furious. I couldn’t understand how she could do certain things or how she was able to block her scent when near me. She belongs to me, my gift from the goddess herself. Yet she continues to run! I decided that I was going to continue on with my life until she was ready, but I wasn’t going to just accept her with open arms, no. I will test her to see if she is fit enough to be my luna. And who knows how long I will have to wait?

I heard from pack members that we had a few guests who had come to pack a few days ago that I was unaware of and when I spoke with Giovanni about it he looked irritated but answered by telling me that some friends of his family wanted to take a look around as they were thinking of moving nearby and wanted to get a feel of the territory to make sure it was safe. He would tell me nothing more. I didn’t mind that they were taking a look around. I was more annoyed at the fact that he failed to mention it to me, so I could prepare some men to keep an eye on them to keep my pack out of danger. “You realize how dangerous that was?” I reprimanded him, he may know them, but if they aren’t part of my pack then they can’t be trusted, at least not until they have earned my trust.

“Hey baby. When will you be done with work? We have had very little one-on-one time recently.” Came the nasally voice of a she-wolf I used to mess around with. “I have obviously been busy with pack business. What do you want, Jade?” I said in a monotone voice. She used to be a quick lay, but since meeting my mate, well, she disgusts me. “Oh come on. That has been your excuse for at least a few months. You need to relax,” She spoke in a sultry voice and approached me, dragging her hand across my shoulder, “Let me help you out.” She then brought her lips up to my ear and whispered. I tensed under her touch and her closeness, but I knew she was right. I had been harsh on my pack lately, not giving a single member the chance to step out of line. I was working my warriors overtime to keep them ready for anything. I knew this, but my anger was at the forefront of my mind. I quickly stood from my seat and grabbed Jade’s hair, pushing her face onto my desk, so her ass was up in the air for me.

Jade’s smell of arousal quickly filled my office space, I pictured my mate in her place, and instantly felt my shaft hardening. I pushed myself against her and whispered, “Don’t forget your place. You are my subordinate and nothing more. All of this is simply for fun.” I didn’t miss the way her face fell, but she quickly recovered when I ripped off her panties and stuck 2 of my fingers in between her folds. I pumped my fingers in and out, I blocked out the sound of her moaning and imagined how my mate would sound. I pictured her face, her body. And I felt myself becoming harder and bigger. I took my fingers from Jade’s p***y and began to unbuckle my belt. Once I was free of my pants, I pushed straight into her. I was rough and hard. I didn’t give her a second to register as she gasped at the sudden penetration. It didn’t take me long to finish, I was still imagining my mate after-all. I then fixed myself and stood back as Jade pulled her dress back over her ass as much as she could. “Well, I guess I will see you later then, sugar.” She went to pull me in for a kiss, but I leaned back and turned my head. “Uh, Okay then.” she said quietly before wrapping her arms around herself and walking out. “Shit.” I sighed.

Later on that day, Gio came into my office with Thaddeus. Thaddeus glared at me and Gio looked irritated. “What’s wrong with both of your faces?” I asked in a bored tone. I watched Thaddeus narrow his eyes at me, but he stayed silent. “You are needed for a meeting in twenty minutes”, Giovanni stated through gritted teeth. “With who? I was unaware of any meetings today.” I asked with annoyance.

“Why did Jade walk out of your office earlier today reeking of s*x?” Thaddeus finally spoke, interrupting my conversation with Gio and with anger evident in his voice. “It is none of your concern Thad.” I said, dragging a hand down my face. “You said things with her were done! Xander, she tells the pack she is your mate, your Luna! Nobody wants her as a leader of this pack because she is so incompetent, not to mention selfish.” He then said exasperatedly whilst running a hand through his hair. Goivanni had decided to leave at this point. He looked pissed off. “I know Thaddeus. I told her that what was between us was nothing.” He didn’t seem to be impressed with me, but I couldn’t blame him, I messed up. “You need to stop encouraging her, and by trailing her along when you want a quick f**k is doing exactly that.” Thaddeus spoke begrudgingly, before turning and walking out of my office in a slump. He wasn’t wrong, I do need to stop, but when my own mate wants to deceive and hide from me, then I need a back-up.

I went to my boardroom, albeit a few minutes late. I walked in fixing my cuffs, then began apologizing for my tardiness as I closed the door. I turned to meet the wolves that had been roaming my pack, only to come face to face with my mate and 2 other males at each side of her, no less. I was angry, frustrated and also had a small pain in my heart from seeing her after so long. I kept my emotions in check and gave away nothing when I asked why they were on my territory, although for a moment after I could have sworn she looked pained at this, but I am probably kidding myself considering she was more than happy to let me suffer without my mate for months on end. She responded to my question with no emotion, her eyes void of giving anything away either. She gave me a whole story about how she had already met her soulmate, a human no less, and how she been broken when she lost him. Hearing her speak of another in this manner as her soulmate enraged me, but I stayed quiet, allowing her to continue.

When she had finished speaking, I stayed quiet, mulling over what she had explained. I was annoyed that my mate did not want to be with me due to losing an ex, who should have no real bond over her than I should. Then I explained to her that my possessiveness will be much more intimidating and I will not be as tolerable due to my alpha genes, but I also let her know that I was willing to try and understand her, as she is meant for me. I was being sincere, I would try to control myself due to her situation but I made no promises that I would be any good. I then asked her, “How long are you staying on my territory?” as I subtly eyed the two large males at each side of her. I offered her to come to a formal dinner, to properly introduce her to some important members of my pack, just to help ease any discomfort she may be in, to which she accepted gratefully. After she refused to disclose to me where she and these males were staying we got up to leave the stuffy room, but as we did so, Jade walked in and straight up to me to wrap her arms around my neck. I tensed under her touch but made no moves to remove her from my neck so that I might see how my mate would react, but when I glanced at my mate, I saw no reaction from her, which may have slightly made my hackles raise that she would be so willing to just let another have me.

The next two days dragged in, but finally it was time for my mate to meet some of my pack. At the dinner all was going about as smoothly as I could hope, conversation was… awkward, to put it lightly. I watched my mate place her hand over one the males by her side, and it infuriated me, but I watched as he seemed to relax under her touch and couldn’t help but wonder, what he was so on edge about? Other than myself of course. Jade had walked into the room and straight for me before placing herself straight onto my lap, wrapping her arms around my neck and placing a sickening kiss to my cheek. I watched my mate turn so that I was no out of her view, giving me the impression that she was not too happy, nor comfortable with this interaction. My mate conversed with her friends for a while before turning fully back to the table. I watched her do a double take of myself with Jade in my lap.

“Can I help you?” she asked in that honey sweet voice of hers, allowing herself to fall back into her chair to show that Jade was not intimidating her. I watched their interaction, Jade was being a total b***h towards my mate but I needed to see how she would handle her as I will not have a weak mate. Then after something Jade had said I listened to my mate laugh, as if she had heard the funniest thing. I was incredibly annoyed with the way Jade was behaving but continued watching the interaction. I watched as Jade launched herself at my mate and watched with intrigue as my mate prevented a slap mere inches from her face. I watched as Jade did exactly as told by her and showed her neck in submission to my mate, before walking out of the hall with my mate in tow.
