Chapter 4 - A mother's Love.

SADLY, THEIR UNCLE GOT AWAY yet again! Tabatha returned to the castle to ask for reinforcements to capture all the rogues, and she soon returned with portal after portal opening behind her as the soldiers made their way into the city and grabbed the rogue wolves. Circe and Willow had, in the meantime, been trying to capture those who tried to make a run for it, and Isobel walked through one of the portals just in time to see a runner. Her arms flew up into the air as her worlds floated through the air and the wolf was swept off his feet. Both Circe and Willow were furious that they hadn’t captured their uncle before he got away, but Violet walked through one of the portals and asked that they show her where their uncle and Brielle opened their portal. Violet walked into the room and closed her eyes. Taking a deep breath as she rubbed her palms together and then held them out in front of her and in seconds a portal opened. On the other hand, Willow could see the same place their uncle went to and, without hesitation, she jumped through. She wanted to be the one to catch him! She wanted to be able to tell Olivia that she had caught and killed the man who tortured her! Her eyes snapped from one side to the other as she sniffed the air and shifted without a second thought. Circe followed next through the portal, followed by Violet, Isobel, Tabatha and finally Glinda. The council soldiers would take care of the town’s people and make sure they couldn’t remember anything that had happened to them since that bastard came to town while the girls tracked down their uncle. His scent was thick in the air, but even if it hadn’t been, Violet would have been able to trace Brielle’s magic. Not too far down the road, the scents disappeared into thin air and when Violet checked for magic they found another portal. It seemed their uncle and that damn witch was clever and the girls stepped through the second portal. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t as stable and it took a second try to open it before Violet could follow them through. By late afternoon, they still hadn’t caught up to the two and Violet was fast running out of energy. They had no other choice but to return to the castle without their prize. Willow rushed to Olivia’s side and she half wished that she could turn Olivia. It was the only way she could think of to save her from the pain. If Olivia had a wolf of her own, she could shift and heal instantly, but the Councillor stopped Willow before she could bite. If she did that, Olivia would lose her powers as a witch and she was still too weak to consent. Willow stayed by her side while the others went back to the pack house to work on a new plan to find their uncle. At least, they had given him a hard knock by removing him from his damn soldiers. The males were incredibly happy to have their mates home and they treated all of them like queens. The only one who didn’t seem entirely happy that her girls had returned was their mother. She was glad that her magic protected them and she was glad that they were able to save Olivia, but that bastard and his witch got away again. While the girls were catching up with their mates, Melissa sneaked out the back and into the forest. She might not be able to fight as well as her girls, but she could find those two idiots before they could place another protection spell. She drew her circle, calling out the corners as she did, and took up a spot right in the middle. Her eyes lifted up into the sky as they focused on the full moon. Full moon magic was the most dangerous magic any which could do, but she didn’t have one second to waste. The words floated out of her mouth and into the air as her eyes stayed focused on the moon. She could feel the power of the moon's magic filling her body and flowing into the two collars she was holding in her hands. It was all she could think of to grab on her way out. It was also the only spell she could think of that could stop her brother-in-law and Brielle before they jumped again. Falling to the floor the moment the spell was done, she watched as the magic settled in both collars and the candles died out. There, she had done it. Now the girls could just throw the collar in the direction of the person they wanted to catch and it would stop them in their tracks. Served them both right after what they did to the innocent people of that town! She made her way home, completely forgetting that she had actually sneaked out and as she came around the corner she heard her girls frantically shouting at each other on the front steps of the porch. Melissa rolled her eyes as she listened in on the conversation where Isobel was blaming Circe for their mother’s disappearance. According to Isobel, Circe’s new position as Alpha had gone to her head and blown it up so much that there was no space for anything else to fit and, because of that, their mother had been kidnapped. Melissa stifled a giggle, but as soon as it had escaped between her lips she knew her daughters knew she was there. She stepped out from behind the corner and smiled at them, but they both looked furious. Rolling her eyes, she tried to explain that she just needed some fresh air and that she had gone for a walk, but they weren’t buying it. The two collars were safely tucked in Melissa’s bag and she wasn’t planning on revealing her plan until her daughters were ready. Jumping through portals for the entire day had tired out all of them, and Melissa still wanted to check in with Willow. Tabatha and Erik offered to go with her and she was grateful for the company. Keeping her bag tightly pressed against her side, Melissa stepped through the portal and appeared right outside of the Silver-Fox castle. It still looked exactly the same. Nothing had changed in all the years she lived at the pack house and her heart broke as she remembered Isobel dying and everything else Radagast put them through. Violet met them on the stairs and took them through to the hospital wing where they found Willow fast asleep with her head resting on Olivia’s hand. Olivia was in an awful state, making Melissa wish she could strangle her damn brother-in-law herself! She couldn’t even begin to imagine that someone who did that to an innocent girl was remotely related to her late love! She softly woke Willow up and sent her with her sister to get something to eat and to at least take a shower. Melissa sat with Olivia as everything that happened to them over the past couple of years ran through her mind. They had all been through so damn much that she wouldn’t know what the hell to do with herself when all of this was over. She thought she would be spending her retirement years with her beloved Frank, sitting on the porch and playing with their grandchildren. Now she was going to spend them alone watching her family fight this stupid war! She felt her age seeping into her bones and forced herself to sit upright. She couldn’t give in to the negative thoughts. Not now. NOT EVER. She wouldn’t allow that bastard to get her or any of her daughters down. He had taken enough from them and he wasn’t going to take that! She would fight till her dying day if she had to. “Hi,” Olivia’s voice drew her out of her tirade of angry thoughts and she smiled at the beautiful woman in front of her before explaining that Willow would be right back. They spent a couple of minutes catching up but the moment Olivia’s eyes snapped at the door, Melissa knew that Willow was back and she quickly made space for her daughter. Willow and Olivia were crying as they touched their foreheads together and apologized at the same time. It was one of the most precious moments in Melissa’s life and she made her way down the passage of the hospital wing. She wanted to speak to Violet and the Councillor before revealing her plan to her daughters and there was no better time than the present.
