CHAPTER FIVE: THE UNSINKABLE

803 Words
The silver rain did not stop. At first, it fell gently—soft, shimmering drops that kissed the earth like a blessing. But by midnight, the sky had turned restless. The rain grew heavier, brighter… almost angry. Arelia stood by the academy balcony, her fingers gripping the railing. “This isn’t normal,” she whispered. Kael stepped beside her, his gaze fixed on the glowing storm. “It’s not just magic,” he said quietly. “It feels like something is trying to break through.” As if answering him, the sky cracked. Not thunder. Something deeper. A tear of darkness split the silver clouds, and for a brief moment, Arelia saw it— A shadowed figure watching from beyond the sky. Her breath caught. “They’re still here…” Chapter Twelve: The Mark of Rebirth The next morning, everything had changed. Students whispered in fear. Some had lost control of their magic overnight. Others claimed to hear voices calling their names. And Arelia… She was burning. Not with pain—but with power. A glowing mark had appeared over her heart, faint but pulsing like a second heartbeat. Kael noticed immediately. “That wasn’t there before.” Arelia shook her head. “No… I think it’s new.” As she touched it, a wave of energy surged through her—and suddenly, she wasn’t in the academy anymore. She was somewhere else. A battlefield. Ruins stretched endlessly, the sky dark and fractured. Magic raged like a storm across the land. And standing in the distance… Was herself. But different. Older. Stronger. Colder. The other Arelia turned—and smiled. “You finally made it back.” Chapter Thirteen: The Girl She Could Become Arelia snapped back to reality, gasping. Kael caught her before she collapsed. “What did you see?” She hesitated. Then said softly, “Myself.” But not just a reflection. A future. Or… a warning. “I think,” she continued, her voice trembling, “this isn’t the first time I’ve come back.” Kael’s expression hardened. “You mean—” “I think I’ve been reborn more than once,” she said. “And each time… something goes wrong.” Silence fell between them. “If that’s true,” Kael said slowly, “then the enemy we’re facing… isn’t just trying to control fate.” “They’re repeating it,” Arelia finished. Chapter Fourteen: The Order Reveals Itself That night, the attack came. No warning. No mercy. The academy barriers shattered like glass as figures cloaked in black descended from the sky. Their magic twisted the air, turning light into shadow. Students ran. Teachers fought. Chaos erupted. Kael grabbed Arelia’s hand. “Stay close.” “I’m not running this time,” she said firmly. A voice echoed across the battlefield: “Child of rebirth… you’ve caused enough damage.” From the darkness, a figure stepped forward—taller, more powerful than the rest. His presence alone bent the air around him. “You were meant to die,” he continued. “Again and again, until the world stabilized.” Arelia stepped forward. “And if I refuse?” The figure smiled faintly. “Then we erase you completely.” Chapter Fifteen: Breaking the Cycle The battle was unlike anything before. Arelia’s magic surged wildly, no longer just light—but something deeper, ancient, uncontrollable. The mark on her chest burned brighter with every spell she cast. Kael fought beside her, fierce and relentless. But the enemy was prepared. “You don’t understand,” the leader said, raising his hand. “Every time you survive… the world fractures further.” Visions flooded Arelia’s mind again—different timelines, different endings: A world where Kael dies protecting her A world where she loses control and destroys everything A world where neither of them exist Her knees weakened. “What if…” she whispered, “they’re right?” Kael grabbed her shoulders, forcing her to look at him. “No.” His voice was steady. Certain. “Even if the world breaks… we fix it. Together.” Something inside her stilled. For the first time, the visions didn’t control her. She controlled them. Chapter Sixteen: A New Fate Arelia stood. The mark on her chest flared into pure light, spreading across her body like wings of energy. “I’m done repeating this,” she said. The sky responded. The silver rain stopped midair—frozen like stars. Then, slowly… it began to rise. Flowing upward, reversing, rewriting. The enemy’s magic faltered. “What are you doing?!” the leader shouted. Arelia’s voice was calm now. “Something new.” She reached for Kael—and he took her hand without hesitation. Their magic merged. Light and shadow… not clashing, but balancing. And in that moment— Fate broke.
