Chapter 25
Rebecca's POV
When he kissed me, I didn’t want to stop. This was the thing I had been waiting for, for the last two months. I hadn’t known I had been waiting for it, but it was here, finally making my mind up for me. I did love this man. I think I always had deep down. Certain things kept replaying in my mind. My first week at the company only highlighted how well I knew him, but I had been paying close attention to Michael for a long time. I hadn’t realised but he was always there, just quietly listening to me. Whilst Chris was the crazy one giving me solutions or helping me cause trouble Michael was listening. Sure, he would interfere and tell us it was a bad idea and judge when thing ultimately backfired, but he was still there to help us pick up the pieces. He was always there when we were sad, hungover, poorly, happy, excited or whatever. The list was endless.
When he felt I wasn’t pulling away but actually kissing him back he deepened the kiss, it was fiercer and more passionate now. I wrapped my hands into his hair and attempted to pull him closer to me. He grabbed my hips tighter and we were melded together. When we finally broke apart for breath, he put his chin on my head.
“Gods, I love you, Becks.” I smiled and he put his face into my wet hair, clearly not expecting anything in reply. I twisted my head, so it was laid on his chest.
“I love you too, Michael.” I answered with the utmost confidence. However, I felt him stiffen and I was terrified I had ruined the moment. Was it the wrong time? Should I have waited? Did he not want me to love him back? My mind wheeled. He grabbed my shoulders and pushed me back so he could look in my eyes. “I’m sorry…”
“No, don’t be sorry. I was just shocked... Really?” His eyes were large and desperate, the fog seemed to be parting and his eyes seemed brighter than normal. I nodded my head, getting shy, now I could actually see his face. He was smiling from ear to ear, the biggest smile I had ever seen but then he immediately stopped again.
“Don’t do that!” I snapped. “Smile if you want to!” He didn’t change his face, but his eyes darkened. Instead, he picked me up bridal style, carried me into the house and placed me gently on the sofa. He then bent over me and kissed me again, slowly pressing his body into mine so he was practically laid on top of me, our legs intertwined, his hands on my face, mine in his hair again. I was right, best kisser ever. I’d kissed a few boys and men. During college I’d kissed Chris lots and even dated a few other boys, mostly to make Chris jealous. Then when we had gotten older and it was clear that Chris and I wouldn’t be together, I had dated a few men, including one at my old workplace. None of them compared to this though, to Michael.
He didn’t pull away, but he paused to breathe, his breath coming out shallow. He was looking directly into my eyes and his eyes were dark. I felt him starting to pull away as his eyes widened. I stopped him, seeing the panic in his eyes rising. I grabbed him, putting one hand on his back and the other in his hair.
“Don’t…” I whispered, still looking into his eyes.
“We need to get going Rebecca.” Oh, the full name was back... I knew he was serious. I let go of him and he got up. He moved to the balcony and closed the doors, locking them. I got up onto my elbows and just looked at him. I sighed loudly and he turned to me. He smiled, walked towards me and held out his hand.
Michael's POV
I could tell she was disappointed. I hadn’t meant to lose control like that, but she had finally told me she loved me back. I’d imagined for years her saying that, knowing she probably never would, so when she did, following cuddling me and her calling me boss. I lost it. However, I knew we were needing to get back to mine to get ready. Plus, I didn’t want to take things further on her sofa. I wanted our first time to be special, she deserved the world and I wanted to give it her.
We got together all of her things and headed out of the apartment. Around halfway down the stairs I felt her hand brush against mine and she was looking at my hand. I knew she wanted to hold it, so I grabbed her hand. I wasn’t looking at her. I dare not, but I felt her body relax and knew she was smiling at the side of me. We walked to my apartment, and I placed her things on the table whilst she put her shoes on the floor and took her current sneakers off.
“Do you need a hairdryer?” I asked, looking at her damp hair.
“You have one?” I just nodded at her. I walked to the bedroom, signalling for her to follow me. I found the hairdryer I kept in my side table, Yes, I used a hairdryer, and plugged it in the wall socket for her so she could sit on the bed and dry her hair. I sat at the side of her while she did. She kept glancing over at me and I wished she wouldn’t. I was imaging all of the things I would do to her after the party when she turned off the hairdryer and looked at me.
“What?” I asked her, worried.
“Kiss me… boss!” She said, smirking and it hit me that she knew exactly what she was doing. I pushed her back onto the bed and climbed between her legs, pushing my body against hers, and before kissing her passionately, I stared into her eyes. She reached her arms around my neck and was stroking the back of my neck as she kissed me back. Our tongues probed each other’s mouths before I started placing kisses down her neck. She was breathing heavily and shivering from each kiss.
“You’re such a tease.” I said, between kisses. She giggled and kissed me back on my shoulders. I knew I needed to stop but not before I started sucking on her collar bone. I moved back up to her lips and kissed her long and hard. She pulled away gasping for air and placed her forehead against mine. “So, do I still remind you of Chris.” I saw panic in her eyes then she looked into mine, pouted and slapped my shoulder. “So, I’m not allowed to tease?” I joked. She pouted but I could see her trying to supress a smile.
“Not about that! You’re mean, but… I admit, I do like this side of you.” She said, stroking my cheek.
“Come on, we need to get ready for the award party.” I heard her tut and chuckled. “Your stuff is in the living room and your dress is hung in the guest bedroom. I’ll get showered and meet you at my bar for pre-drinks.” I pecked her on the cheeks then made my way to the bathroom for a cold shower before I took a normal one.
