Author’s afterword:I wasn’t familiar with Steamscapes when Eric Simon first contacted me about writing for Steamscapes: Asia. However, I became interested when I realized how much research and detailed thought had gone into this RPG universe. I jumped at the chance to write a short story for it.
Shortly after I started, however, I ran into an unusual situation. My story file had become corrupt and, because I didn’t realize this, I had used the corrupted file to overwrite my backup files.
In all my years of writing on computers, and carefully creating backup files, I had never faced this before. I was not too far along in the story; less than halfway, at least.
