Chapter Twelve

880 Words
“Lets go!” Jon yelled. He grabbed Charlie's hand and practically threw her over board, she was expecting me to follow. Jon winked at me before jumping overboard. I could’ve easily followed, but that wasn’t the plan. Guards had weapons ranging from guns to spears pointed at me, at least twenty of them. A few lay dead at my feet as I was forced to kneel.      Then I heard Charlie scream my name. It was so far away, so desperate. Keep her back, Jon. I mentally pleaded.     “So, this is one of them?” Regina’s voice came from somewhere behind me. They actually believed they had truly captured me. I examined the guards surrounding me. It would be super easy to escape now, but that wasn’t what we discussed.      “Hands on your head.” one of the guards shoved the butt of a rifle into my shoulder. I obeyed his order and raised my hands in surrender. “Yes, your majesty.” I said with a smirk.     Regina walked to the front of me, she had a long sleek black dress on. Her hair was pulled back elegantly with seashell pins in the bun.     “What’s your name?” She knelt down and lifted my chin with her finger so I had to look her in the eye.      “That doesn’t matter.” I spat at her.      “Oh sweety, of course it matters.” she clicked her tongue at me, “I would like to know the name of the boys who have been trying to kill me.” she considered her words, “No.. you’re not a boy, are you? You’re a man, right? But by looking at you, although handsome, you can’t be older than 19.”      I smiled, “Kinda funny to think that the people who came so close to killing you are just teenagers, right?”      Her maroon lipstick smile faded, “You weren’t even close.”      “Close enough to make you scared.”      She stood up, “So, you’re not going to tell me your name? I guess I’ll just have to find out a different way.”      I laughed, “Go ahead and try.”      She looked down at me and smiled, “Oh hunny, I will. You know your precious girlfriend Charlie, I’ve got her pinged. She’s been on my radar for quite some time. And Jon, my poor, poor Jon. He’s just confused. He will one day realize his true ways and return to being my son. I just haven’t figure out who you are yet. It’s just a matter of time.”      My heart stopped, first with the mention of Charlie, then Jon. Everything made sense. How he knew everything about this ship, and why he was so adamant about not killing the Queen. I sank a little farther back on my knees, my shoulders slumped.      “Surprising, isn’t it? His dad poisoned his mind. Told him how bad of a person I had become. Blah Blah. I was just as surprised as you are now to find out that my very own son is trying to destroy me. If he doesn’t change his ways now, then I will have no choice but to kill him.” She said so blandly.      “If you try to touch any of them, I will gut you with my teeth.” I hissed at her.      She laughed, “okay hun. Boys, lock him up. His friends will come back for him eventually.”      I was lifted off of the ground and forced to walk down another set of stairs to a cold cell. They tossed me inside and slammed the door behind me.           As soon as the guards walked back up the stairs, I started searching for a way out of this cell. The bars were solid iron, and the boards were nailed down too tightly for me to pull them up. If I was about Charlie sized I could just slide out of these bars. They were far enough spaced, but too close for my body to fit. I cursed myself. It was just a matter of time before Jon came back.     I heard footsteps coming down the stairs a couple hours later, heels, followed by the sound of clunky boots. Regina walked around the corner and tapped her manicured nails together. About 10 guards followed her into the small space.     “So, Mr. Baker.” Regina smiled. “Or should I call you Logan? Which would you prefer?”      “Piss off.” I grabbed the cell bars. How did she find out who I am?      “I understand why you didn’t want me to know who you were. After starting a rebellion in my army, and running, like a coward. I understand. Truly. I would be ashamed too..”      “I’m not ashamed,” a smile spread on my lips, “I’m proud of not standing with you.”      “Yeah, well we will see how long that lasts." She spun her finger in the air. Guards stepped forward and unlocked my cell. They grabbed me and started hauling me up the stairs to the deck.      Regina stood there, waiting for me. She turned and smiled when I was finally on my knees in front of her.             It's now night time, and freezing cold up here in my still damp wet suit.             "There's no reason to waste any time." She smiled and pulled out a g*n.             This wasn't a part of the plan… I thought to myself as I stared down the barrel of a .45 pistol.
