When the effects of the Taser faded, Anna found herself laying on her stomach, her hands secured tightly behind her back. Dazed, she turned her head and looked around her, at least as far as she was able, given her limited movement.
“Wha… what… where…” she mumbled.
“Well, hello,” a voice somewhere behind her greeted. “I was beginning to think I might have killed you.”
Anna squirmed and twisted her body so she could see behind her. The cop, the one Amber hit with the car, was seated on the ground, his back against the door of his police vehicle. He had a gun in his hand, pointed directly at her. She turned her head and looked towards the place she last remembered seeing the weapon, on the side of the road. It was gone.
