The reserve sat in a transition zone where the sub-tropical region met the semi-arid, and it harbored plants and wildlife specific to both regions. Incorporating both open woodlands and sandstone escarpments, the singular most prominent feature of the reserve had to be the Lost City, a spectacular display of sandstone pinnacles haphazardly bunched together like a conglomeration of city buildings.
