Ella’s POV
“Do you have the file ready?”
I nodded and brought out the files Artemis had asked me to prepare for his meeting that evening. “I also prepared a recording in case you would be needing one.”
“Oh, thank you for that,” Artemis beamed at me, surprised and pleased that I had taken the initiative to do something that would be helpful in his meeting.
His smile was broad and lit up his face like a firefly but I didn’t return it. I just nodded and left him to continue preparing for the meeting with the company’s board of directors. I didn’t allow myself revel in the look of shock that had crossed his face slightly.
That was how the rest of the week went by with me pretending not to be affected by anything that Artemis did. He would try to catch my attention with a joke or a smile,
