There were six other wolves at Vaughn’s kitchen table: Roly (or Roland, if one was being formal), who was the cook from a diner out in Sheridan; Jim, a mechanic who worked in Sheridan but lived in Wolf with a family of damn near a dozen kids, none of who had inherited their father’s talents; and a young man who went by the nickname of Chuckles that Lyle recognized from high school but who had been a couple of years behind him. The three other men Lyle knew of more than he could say that he actually knew them, Abe, Chris, and David, but they didn’t need familiarity with Lyle to listen to what Lyle had to tell them.
