The day that followed was a blur of roller coasters, water rides, and Hannah and Isaac’s delighted screams. A big dopey grin had pasted itself on Lyle’s face, and more than once he saw a similar one on his father’s. They ate French fries and hamburgers and teased Randy and Henry mercilessly over their leaner choices of wraps (no dressing, please). There was dunking of the little ones in the wave pool until Lyle had received the whistle-of-death and a sharp reprimand from an overly concerned, overeager lifeguard that looked to be about fifteen years old and ninety pounds soaking wet. Lyle had stopped, to the outrage of both kids who saw no reason why their older brother shouldn’t be allowed to topple them head over heels in raging water, but he’d distracted them with some high-speed tubing
