It's like he's sucked my soul right out of my body as he lay there, one leg down, foot pressed against the floor, the other straight, his calf resting on the armrest. He looks extremely uncomfortable, yet comfortable at the same time. How did he sleep on that thing last night? Not your problem, Briar-- I tell myself, more like remind myself, but the crushing urge of guilt that he gave up his bed for me once more is unsettling. My nails dig into my palm.
